Ordered the standard and it's huge. Quality made, solid. Body and bottom is made of metal. Body is coated but base is not. Pretty heavy. I don't recommend casting because of the weight and dragging could bend steel bottom if caught on rocks. Perfect for lifting and dropping. Very wide, will hold many crabs. The net reminds me of the net I use to assist me in pulling in large fish from the Gulf (reds, etc) to avoid snapping my pole. The bate holder is built of plastic and seems very cheap. Plan to purchase a quality holder to use with this quality net. No net rope was included must purchase separate. Only time will tell how long it will last using it in saltwater. Happy with purchase.

Great value crab net. Good quality and price! Strong material and plastic coated metal rings. The first one that I ordered was either lost, mis delivered or stolen? I had to reorder a replacement which finally made it to my home. But along the way someone cut the packing tapes on one side of the package which comprised the protection of the crab net-a few of the netting material on the big ring got scuffed. But I’m keeping this one because I’ve waited long enough for this crab net.

The build quality on this crab ring is quite good. Things you need are there, SS mesh bottom, heavy weight line used for mesh -- essential for Dungeness crabbing, but the gage of the rings is too light. This would be fine for southern waters, where you don't have tidal extremes, but would have to add weight here in the PNW to kept from moving. It will work fine at slack tide.

Nice pot. Well built and works. On the dock, we were the only ones using an open top pot like this. A few other families were there using the large traditional box pots. On average, we pulled a little more crabs than they did, but the difference is the frequency. We could pull every 10-15 minutes and they had to wait over an hour between pulls. We would have gotten a fair amount more than them with each pull, but we lost some during the pull. Most fell through the bottom, which has fairly large gaps between the wires and some made it over the edge. The ones that went through the bottom were too small to keep anyway since we were crabbing for Dungeness. That is the downside with this design, easier in and easier out for the crabs, but in my opinion, it's still superior.

Well made crab ringPositives:Net is coated and very durable.Rings are also coated, nice big sizeCome with harness with nice ropeBait cage vinyl coated preventing rustNegativesBait cage door is not easy to open , feels lile the hinges will break. Will need to be careful with it.Bottom of ring is uncoated. Could bea rust issue if not cared for.Size of bottom will most likely only let smaller crabs through....No drop rope of float included.Overall: feels well made and should be great for blue claws on Chesapeke this summer. Purchases a high quality rooe and float for the trap for pier crabbing. Look forward to good results

Ive used other rings like this and the always feel a little to..... soft. I guess soft is a good word. Just more like a fish net than a crab ring. Like when you pull them up, you end up with crabs all tangled up in the netting. And its reall hard to get them untangled. Don't think I'll have that problem with this ring. It has a wire bottom big enough to let small stuff through and small enough to keep in the keepers. The whole thing geels sturdy. Kinda stiff in a good way. And the bait box is awesome. I have zero complaints. One thing. Don't forget to order some rope. Gonna catch me some crab. Mmmmmm.

These are some great rings. rope is not included, but bait cage is. The rope can be purchased at Walmart for cheap. I got 100' of 100lb rated rope for less than $4 which plenty strong and is enough for two pots @ WM. my rings survived a seal trying to steal my bait and the seal got some bait, and bent up a corner of on of the bait cages, but I bent the corner of the lid of the bait cage down and was all set. if you need to set up rings for seal deterrence you can always remount the tray/ bait at the very bottom of the ring so seals can't get to the bait. the rings are light weight which is great when you have to haul them by hand down the pier which always seem longer at the end of the day. Also, compared to other rings the coated/tarred netting is way easier to get the crab out of which is a big plus. other rings with the soft netting get wrapped all around the Red rock and Dungeness crab legs making it a real pain and very frustrating to get them out. Sometimes the crab end up back in the water with one less leg or two when this happens, which is not something I like doing but don't want to take all day just to get one "small" out of the ring because they are wrapped up in the netting. I have fished this ring back to back with the Willapa ring and prefer this one just because it is easier to get the crab out of the netting. Finally, these rings are made in Oregon - doesn't get any better. take it from me, an Oregonian & ex commercial crab fisherman. these are some great rings. ;-)
