I like the historic look and feel. The edges on the steel striker are rather sharp and uncomfortable to use. Flint is smaller than needed for comfort. I would recommend wearing gloves on both hands to prevent injury and increase comfort. Tin supplied is very nice for making more char cloth.

Tin is perfect size for making charcloth and carrying everything. Striker is nicely forged and good size piece of flint. Hits alot of sparks. Works perfectly. Love it. Will be in my pack for years to come.

Good little kit, does what it's supposed to do. Box was bigger than I thought. Lot a fire in no time. Decent deal for a kit that's already assembled if you don't feel like gathering all the supplies.

Initial thoughts:Great idea for a flint striker to keep on have for emergencies. But it is small enough that it makes it difficult to get good sparks from it. It is also too big to be a zipper pull, so I put it in an altoids Tin in my backpack. The good:It nice to have it on hand. It does spark and that can be captured in char cloth or produce fire. The bad:I am used to the c shaped ones that go over the knuckles so I will need to keep working with this to get used to the hand holding position. The striking surface is smaller which produced less sparks but should work fine once I am more used to it.Final say:It is handy to have it around. It will spark when encountering flint or chert (what is what I use here in New Mexico)It might work on a key change but not on a zipper.I have produced 1 fire from this and many sparks from practicing the required hand position. It will take a bit of a learning curve but it is good to have on hand.
