I like the LaBella '54 "Jamerson" flats for maximum thump, but they can be a real bear to play. These are slightly less sonically hefty but are easier to play, with a uniquely buttery feel due to the nickel. (Hard to find nickel in a flatwound for some reason. Alas, this particular blend doesn't come cheap.)They still have more thump than most other flats I've tried. They don't seem to have quite as much trebly bite available as with the stainless flats but that might be a good thing. (One doesn't generally buy flatwounds for treble...)
