Pyramid : Truly Brilliant Classic Strings / Unfortunate Obsolete Packaging.*please see attached pics . . . .Likely DAMAGED? ULTRA-PREMiUM Product . . .Truly Awesome 5+ Star Strings; unfortunately : -5 Star Mfg Packaging =RATiNG 1 Star . . . . . .BRILLIANT Strings, but . . . .The Mfg's Traditional / Historic / Antiquated Packaging - is Woefully INADEQUATE for Modern Times - (where goods are often Direct Shipped to end users by huge Warehouse Fulfillment Operations - who CANNOT Know or be Responsible for a Mfg's Lack of REASONABLE PROTECTION of their Goods!).Sure in previous times gone by : the Product Mfg / Distributor would ship multiple Items in a Carton to Retail Music Stores where they would then be Sold Directly to the Consumer. This worked fine, but NOT with todays often single items being economically (GREEN?) sent directly to end users in Thin Flat Paper Envelopes, Ultra Lite Weight Poly-Bags, Thin Plastic Bags, etc, etc . . . & possibly being Crushed, Smashed, run through Sorting Machinery, etc, etc, etc.Congratulations to Pyramid Strings Company's Impressive Longevity & their Truly Awesome Product! But, PLEASE UPGRADE your STRING PACKAGiNG to a "CRUSHPROOF" BOX or CONTAiNER able to WITHSTAND MODERN Automated SHiPPiNG & Sometimes, unfortunately - Less than Ideal HANDLING.ps / fyi : a Decorative Pyramid Branded KEEPSAKE String Tin Container would be BRiLLiANT!Thank-you for your consideration.jr :+ a blessed "Amazon Vine Voice" invitee :("You're invited into the exclusive Amazon Vine program!")+ a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ(Lion of the tribe of Judah & King of the Jews)+ a disciple & proponent of the Holy Spirit of all T R U T H.Life is short, eternity is long : plan accordingly friends...

"E" string is dead as a door nail. "E" string sounds like a "thump" with no musical attributes at all. A waste of my time and money. At $70 for a set of strings you would think you would get premium sound from all 4 strings...so, basically I got 3 strings that make sound. I now have a 3 string bass guitar.

Love them. I had Labella's on my Hofner Contemporary Violin bass. They sounded good. BUT these Pyramid's sound and feel fantastic!! They are just like the strings that came on my German Hofner Bass!

If you are really looking for that warm, fuzzy sound of the 60s, these are the strings you want. They are not the easiest to play, but they will give you that incredible tone. If you can master these strings your audience will be transported back in time. Harder to play than D'addario chromes, but you cannot get the tone from D'addario that you can with these babies. You will never need another set of strings. My strings came with some manufacturing grease still on them, so just make sure you check for that. I had to rub them down with denatured alcohol. I am assuming this was just a manufacturing error and is not common.

I have purchased and used these on a few basses over the past two years. My conclusion is that they just aren’t as good as laBella beatle bass or other 760 series strings. The surface is rougher and not as well polished, the E is dead ( something these are notorious for), and they are very expensive here in the States. I really wanted to love them, but they really aren’t that great.

Put these strings on your Guild Starfire II for a shot at the Phil Lesh sound. Or on your Höfner 500/1 for early Beatles tone. (Short scale). Put long scale sets on your Fender P-Bass or your Rickenbacker 4003s for other types of old school "thud" tones. These strings are handmade, supple and snakey. Smooth as glass and they string up with less tension than many other flats. Don't worry if the E string seems a bit dead. The A, D and G will break in and match in a few hours of play time. These strings will last a LONG time. So they are actually cheaper in that long run. Pure nickel winding is easy on frets. These are the real deal from the days when ALL new basses shiped with flat wound strings. Carry the torch!

The A, D, and G string sound amazing. They really stand out and pop. I can’t say the same for the E string though. It’s sounds dead and it doesn’t sound in tune most of the time.

I purchased these string for my '63 Hofner 500/1. I have used La Bella's previously and I like those strings but I love these strings. While I like the bottom notes my ears hear a more full lower mid (if that makes sense). I record a lot so these were definitely worth the investment. Now let's see how long they last because right now I cannot afford a new set.
