qt XIM Products 11052 White XIM, UMA Acrylic Bonder and Primer/Sealer
From the Manufacturer
XIM Advanced Technology UMA White is a high performance water-based Bonder that has both primer and adhesive-like properties. It provides excellent adhesion and wet adhesion to "Hard-to-Paint" surfaces, even when wet. Sanding may not be necessary for most clean and dull paintable surfaces, but sanding or dulling the surface is required for maximum adhesion, specifically on surfaces such as tile, porcelain and glazed block. UMA can be used for both indoor and outdoor applications, and can be used with Oil/Alkyd, Latex, Urethane, Epoxy and Lacquer top coats.

I used this product as a bonder between the surface and the epoxy I covered the surface with.

I got this product for use as the first layer of an epoxy countertop project. I painted the bare MDF surface with the subject product and then applied black epoxy undercoat directly onto it, and then black speckled paint as the final coat prior to applying three layers of epoxy. The product adheres to the MDF surface very well. I have experienced NO peeling of any kind.I recommend it.

We are freshening up some old laminate/formica bathroom vanities for a rental. I originally used a kitchen cabinet primer that was recommended by a number of websites. However, due to the ultra smooth nature of laminate, it was too smooth for just any primer. After drying, it scraped off easily with just my fingernail, even after cleaning with degreaser, rubbing alcohol, and 100 grit sandpaper. After some more research, i was directed to this product. So, after starting over, i applied this to the laminate. I did the fingernail test again, along with some other stuff, and realized this primer is the real deal. Stuck to the laminate as well as i was hoping for. I now have confidence that the topcoat paint i chose will stick and provide a durable finish.

I was remodeling a kitchen and the boss wanted epoxy countertops. I was dealing with laminate that had been painted over using countertop paint. I removed the integrated backsplash. After a lot of sanding to remove as much paint as possible, then roughed up the laminate. Bondo was used to level out corner joined laminate and to patch. So I'm dealing with 3 different material surfaces that I need to prime. This stuff does job! Just follow directions!Use 2-3 lighter coats. I let everything dry for 2 days then I prepped and poured out almost 2 gallons of white dye infused epoxy. The boss is very happy!

I purchased this product because it was recommended for my application. I am using it on sanded cultured marble, appling XIM, and then a paint/primer in one on top of it. I excepted this product to cover the clean sanded counter better. I ultimately did 3 thin coats (tried a foam roller, microfiber roller and a paint brush) and it was not smooth but had a blotchy looking consistency. I, of course, sanded lightly between coats. Just very odd finish in my opinion. I expected more of a painted look finish. I honestly don't know if this was normal. We did stir the can well and we applied it in the temperature recommended by the manufacture. I hope it does what it is intended to do which is bond the surfaces together. I will finish my project with epoxy and hopefully it will all be good.
