The auger motor was the perfect replacement for the OEM.

The description says it's a Quadra-Fire product (it is not) and also states it comes with a bracket (it does not). As another review stated, it is a cheap aftermarket auger motor, and it is very loud. I bought two of these, and they both sound like the motor has gravel in it. I've had to return both, which is frustrating, as it's not an easy repair for a Castile Insert. The photos clearly show the OEM product. Do not buy these cheap Auger motors from PelletHead or Earthsense (the sticker on the Auger motor), you won't be happy, like I stated, I've ordered two from them (different items on Amazon, but the same company and same product both times...which I didn't know...). Beware.

This motor appears to be configured for a specific series of Quadra Fire pellet stoves. If you don't have one of those the mounting bracket and electrical connections won't work. I ended swapping these parts of the assembly with the original parts from my stove. After reconnecting things and restarting the stove a couple times it works. The feed rate is a little different, so I'm struggling a bit with that. But overall it's quiet and got my stove working again.

Glad I grabbed this at the beginning of the heating season as I sensed the 12 year old original auger motor was on its way out. Old motor would give an annoying buzzing sound periodically and this became more predictable with time. I gave this review four stars as the instructions are not well documented. Motor itself and hardware is fine. For the stand alone Castile, you do not have to remove the controller box. I was able to finesse the motor and the auger out by rotating the whole unit as I pulled it forward. Removing the controller box would not have given you any advantage at getting the old motor and auger out. New motor is much more quiet and the rate of pellet drop is also much improved as evident by the flame height in the pot and the left over cooled ash.

This product was relatively easy to install in my Quadrafire 1200 and it works very well. It was reasonably priced. The original part was 10 years or older, it still worked but it was failing. My recommendation to pellet stove owners, if your auger is not feeding pellets, the problem may not be the motor, but the vacuum switch which is very inexpensive and simple to put on.

Amazon was faster and cheaper than dealing with the place I purchased the stove from 6 years ago. After installing this one, I now believe the original auger motor that came with the stove was defective from the get-go because it had always made a funky, grinding sound in operation, increasing in volume and intensity every season. I've been meaning to purchase one but the price was always daunting. A few weeks ago the auger motor started squealing and clunking and not being able to perform properly and I knew it was the end of the line. A few very cold days (the pellet stove is the source of heat in this place) made the price seem suddenly less significant than having heat again. It came within a few days and was almost stupidly easy to install. You remove the auger motor cover and it's all right there. The most difficult part of the whole swap was getting the auger's allen screw to loose it's grip on the old motor shaft so I could separate them. Then it was out with the old, in with the new. The new motor came with new wires and an improved bracket in case you have the old style in your stove, but mine was the same bracket and wires so only the motor needed to be installed. When I plugged the stove in and turned on the thermostat, I panicked for a moment thinking it hadn't worked, but then I heard pellets clinking into the pot. This motor is so super quiet, I had to look in there with a flashlight and see it turning to believe it was actually working! Poof, there was fire, and my house is now toasty and cheerful again despite the winter's gloom and chill just outside the door.

My quadrafire sante fe insert stopped working one day so I did some tests and realized it was the feed/auger motor. I went to Ace hardware and the motor was $267 with tax. I ordered this motor and received it one week later. I installed it, and boom works like a charm. The motor is completely silent compared to the factory motor which sounds like an aircraft lifting off in your living room.
