This is the perfect gift for every teacher whose classroom is decidedly old school--which describes almost every teacher I work with. Chalk is educational glitter: pernicious and determined to cling to every possible surface. Getting a chalkboard clean with the three-inch-long eraser the school provides is, well, messy. Think of them as the Flintstone car. This eraser is the Rolls Royce.With the white suede hand guard, it is also possible to personalize this beauty with paint pens (because, let's face it, sometimes good things sprout legs and walk around school buildings to find themselves in admiring colleagues' rooms). This one was purchased as a replacement for a wanderer of a math teacher who loves puns, so my students wrote, "Employ in case of zombie achalk-ellipis."

This is a decent eraser. It does the job at erasing large chalkboard surfaces quickly. However, there were two problems I had with it.I took one star off because the construction isn't very good. The erasing parts are made of felt, and they are glued onto a thin strip of what also seems to be a denser felt. It seems to be entirely glued together; the felt is not sewn to anything. This just doesn't make it feel very sturdy. I would have liked the felt to be sewn onto a piece of wood in the middle, or maybe glued. But as it stands, it's just a bit wobbly. Additionally, the white piece of cloth—which actually is detached when it arrives—comes off pretty easily.I took another star off because the pieces of felt on the rough side of the eraser are not even. When erasing, this causes only one of the strips of felt to catch the chalk, which makes it less efficient at erasing. This just means, however, that one must wipe over the same spot several times.

The "Quartet 807222 Deluxe laminated felt chalkboard eraser/cleaner works like a dream! Erases very nicely on one side and if you want a clean looking chalk board,the white side cleans the chalk board as if it has been "scrubbed" clean.I highly recommend this product because it also keeps the dust to a minimum.I use this on a vintage slate chalk board and it works great.

this shipped to our house with several different items last December. When it arrived the felt wrap wasn't attached and I thought I had a defective product. It turns out it is supposed to come off, and was at the bottom of the package. Necessary (in my opinion) to maintain a great chalkboard.

I work in a math department at a major research university and these are the erasers they prefer. We use the suede side to erase the board and they do a great job with no "ghosting". The other great thing about them is the size. We have large boards and in some rooms there are up to 6 boards stacked over each other. These make quick work of the task of erasing. Highly recommended.
