My husband collects all types of stuff like this so I had to get it for him as soon as I saw it. It came very well packed and secured and everything was 100% true to the ad. Definitely functions as intended and it's super accurate. He has all different types of things like this and so when he was comparing them he said that this one is definitely as nice as some of the name brand ones he has. This is super user friendly and very easy to use if you are familiar with what you are doing. If you are unfamiliar though the instructions are clear and easy to read and very helpful as well. You can easily see the display on this and it's super durable and very well made. Feels very heavy duty and not cheap or easily breakable. This charge is up quickly and the charge last a good amount of time. This is definitely a great quality option and a great value for your money! Solid 10 out of 10

I have been using a bog standard IR temp "gun" to measure my quartz. This works perfectly fine, and continues to work perfectly fine. I bought that thing for less than $20, and you can find others for half that. They fundamentally do what this thing does. So why would you buy this? Well...First and most obvious is size, this thing is about the thickness of a tube of lipstick, and about half to 2/3rds the length of a pencil. It's super convenient to use. Due to its tiny size, there's also never any guessing on "wait where exactly am I pointing the sensor??" and risk of touching the glass with your plastic gun, thus ruining the whole preheat. I mean you can still touch this thing to the glass, but you'd actively have to try to on purpose.Secondly, "hands free", more like trigger-free measuring. From the moment its turned on, it starts measuring. Just point it at whatever and it's good to go! It's pretty fast on the update rate too, way faster than my cheap IR gun. Plus the display changing colors means you don't even have to read the temp to know roughly how hot you are at.Thirdofly, the base. It's nice. It takes up less space than the quartz pieces themselves. It's probably both my favorite part and one of the most disappointing. The base is a substantial chunk of metal, it's quite nice to hold. But it's not deep enough, the wand will wobble around if you don't center it perfectly. It's in securely enough not to fall out, but it feels like it will. Pressing it in hard enough to make it stand up right means that the base is stuck to the tip and will require manual removal (it's not hard, just you can't easily pull it out in one easy motion). The base is overall a huge plus. But if there is ever a dipwand 2.0 pro or whatever, I hope they improve the base. Now, for the dicey bits. There is no temp hold function. Oh boy. When it's annoying, it's /really really/ annoying. Usually it's not an issue since you can just hold it in a way to easily see the temp, plus the display flashes the colors. But you have to keep it in place in order to read the temp (or move and read it in a split second I guess). Once more, this is baffling... why? The F/C button could've easily doubled as a temp hold button if you hold it.The display: The colors are easy as heck to see. The display itself is... *BAD*. The viewing angles are atrocious. I haven't seen something this bad in like a decade. This is the worst viewing angle LCD I've seen in a long time. This compounded with the lack of a temp-hold function, is so frustrating at times. You can see in the one image how hard it is to see the numbers. It looks the same in person. From a less oblique angle they're fine and easy to read so rest assured. But man that viewing angle sucks...There is no way to program the temp and display color. Ok, fine, I can live with this one. Thankfully the temp/colors are set in a /mostly/ sensible way. This also leads onto the manual. Which sucks. It tells you virtually nothing. It's only good to see the temp and color combos really. And another HUGE sin. This a new device, demanding a premium, and it comes with MICRO-USB. WHY? WHY WHY WHY? It should be USB-C at a minimum. Especially for what they're demanding for it. And it's a pretty flimsy micro-usb too, doesn't inspire confidence that this will be a long lived item. I'd be happy if I'm still using it in 5 years.Small nitpicks: The power operation is weird. I think it's a triple click to turn on and off... but... it's inconsistent in the weirdest way. The manual is of no help. Basically just click the button till it goes on or off. I don't like that it's this round, it rolls a lot/easily.However *the most impressive thing to me?* As far as I can tell, it's temperature accuracy is *bang* on. Like it doesn't even need to be for what it is, originally I half assumed it only flashed colors during those temp blocks and didn't show the exact temp. Nope, it shows the exact temp. Bear in mind the emissivity is specifically for quartz glass, so that's ostensibly the only thing it will measure accurately. That alone has upped the dab game substantially. The fast update rate, easy nimble operation, and good accuracy make this thing work. I like it a lot.But lets talk about the elephant in the room. Value. For what they are asking, this does not match in quality. It feels like an item that's worth half its price. It feels like you're paying a HUGE markup because it's an enthusiast hobby "accessory". It's definitely nice to have, but unless you are comfortably off and want the convenience, I just can't see a world where I'd spend the cash on this over an IR gun. It's a super neat little gadget, and as I said I love it. But if I had to buy more of these myself, I'd have pretty strong buyers remorse. All I'm saying is, know you're paying a premium for what you're getting. But what you are getting, is definitely very convenient and nice, even if the value isn't commensurate, in my opinion. If you're content with that, you will not regret it.Assuming money is not an object, I really really like this Dipwand 2.0 IR thermometer.Edit/Update: Some extra thoughts using it longer. The base really is fine, the wobbling you get used to, it's pretty secure all things considered. The viewing angles suck, but you also adjust to that (but it does kinda reduce the usefulness slightly since you have to hold it at certain angles to be able to read it). The lack of the temp hold (or max) hasn't been as much of an annoyance as I expected it at first, but it is annoying with the viewing angle. Battery life has been fantastic, no complaints there. I was a bit worried because it came with 2 bars on the battery, and nearly immediately drained to 1 bar despite charging it for a little before first use. But so far, it's remained 3 bars (full) since I charged it last, quite a bit ago. Now, the On/Off button. It is triple click, but it's wildly inconsistent. I think the rubber membrane on mine doesn't quuiiite line up with the hole in the metal casing. So when rapidly clicking it it has a tendency to get stuck under the casing or skip inputs I guess. All in all, still really like this thing.

Another great reader from these guys. This one is so much more convenient with the IR feature. It fits in the stand underneath some of my bangers so no need to even hold it. It’s also no bother when I need to with others either. Light as the stick version and fits well in your hand. If you want an accurate quartz reader that won’t break the bank, this product wins above all others in my opinion.
