It cooked eggs, bacon and pancakes evenly in the morning, and then we used it to sear chicken and fish in the evening. The heat is so evenly distributed that there are no cold spots. I absolutely love this cast iron grill pan! The quality of the material is top-notch - you can really feel the heft and durability when you hold it. This cast iron griddle is great for expanding your current grill's cooking abilities. The great thing about this item versus buying an expensive griddle grill is that this item will fit on your current grill, on the stove, or even in your oven. This makes it versatile, usable year-round and saves you money. I have a smaller cast iron griddle that I've been using in the oven with steaks and other meats when weather doesn't permit grilling for the past 9 years. What I like about this one is the taller sides, the bigger size, and the non-stick surface. Truely an upgrade! It is heavy like all cast iron products. But I feel the price point and the item features make this a great buy and even a great gift.
