This was used on a 10-year old chest freezer that lost its refrigerant. We had a graduation party coming up and needed the extra freezer space but didn't want to deal with a replacement. With nothing to lose, I tried this kit. There are lots of online resources for installation and charging is simple. After a half hour of work, the freezer was working like new. Now four months later and the charge is still holding. The bonus heavy freezer use we got over the summer was well worth the price of the repair.

I repaired the refrigerator for a less than 10% of the cost of a technician. The kit is OK for one-time, non professional use. I used the resealable can, but I doubt that the adapter included is of any use. At least I did not figure out how to make it work. So I was able to use the valve's pin pressing the can's valve directly. There are many videos how to fill refrigerant, and most importantly, one should NEVER allow liquid into compressor. So the process needs to be smooth, with R141 can vertically head-up. The hose is not very flexible and short and it is difficult to weigh the correct amount in. Use extra caution not to over-load refrigerant; most refrigerators need 4-5 ounces only. That is why use extra care and get to ~2-3psi max on vapor pipe readings when compressor is running. It is very difficult and dangerous to fix overfill. That is why KNOW what you are doing. Not recommended for the first-time user.

Repair guy wanted $130 just to come look at the fridge. I diagnosed myself, obtained the gas and used this hose to recharge my fridge. Worked perfectly. I used some pipe dope when connecting the self sealing adapter to the piercing valve. $10 for the gas and $30 for this hose was way better than paying a repair guy $1500.
