No gimmicks. No garrish logos. This is simply a very well made and very well sorted out down jacket. Sideways rain mixed with snow? Bring it!

I've had this jacket for 4 years, however, the main zipper has broken twice in the past year.Having it fixed replaced by Rab Warranty repair again now. However, they just replace old broken zipper with new same defective zipper. I have seen this problem reported by other customers on other sites. I'm surprised that more people have not had this problem with the main zipper.

I've owned (2) Rab Valiance Jackets. The zippers on both developed a difficult spot. It was difficult to zip passed that spot and when you did, the zipper would open below the slide.

Did a lot of research before purchase. Fantastic jacket both waterproof and insulated. Looks great and is lightweight. Packs small to fit into rucksack. No complaints about this jacket.

Had a Rab jkt before and decided I would try another one. The valiance is an extremely warm jkt. almost too warm, it could breathe better. The downsides are the 2 main pockets are not lined and I would love an inner pocket for hats and gloves. Other than that, it's a great jkt. But remember it can get really hot 🔥

I own Rab’s microlite Alpine jacket and was looking for another down jacket that is waterproof. After some research, it appeared that this jacket is one of the few that is both down and waterproof. Most of the reviews confirmed it’s good performance and that all design as usual. It seems the two negative issues associated were that it doesn’t breathe as well as lighter non waterproof jackets (as expected) and is slightly less packable than standard light down jackets. These two items aside, my testing in the Pacific Northwest has not left me wanting for more. I believe this is the newer version and does not come with a stuff sack. I have found that this new version easily packs into a 5L stuff sack. As another reviewer mentioned, the new version apparently is rated at 700 versus the older version’s 800 down. The waterproofing seems to work well and zippers don’t seem to leak. Overall, it has become my new favorite jacket.

Simple, clean fit that that blocks the wind better than expected. Nicely constructed for cold weather winter hikes in the white mountains.

I own several jackets from Rab, I honestly think I am in love with the brand. I like the clean and functional look of their garments. No flashy or excesively bulky as other brands such as the north face, salomon, which have gone mainstream.I ordered this Valiance jacket after a price drop from an external site. I ordered the 2021 model, which it's far better than newer model in 3 aspects:1- better down quality 800 vs 700 on new model.2- Helment compatible hood vs regular fit hood.3- stuff sack included vs new model does not has it.It was a no brainer after price dropped below 200usd, and with shipping and taxes paid ~217 usd.final words, be careful with size, for some reason this specific jacket runs a bit large, on sleeve length and torso space. The size S I own, runs perfectly in size. All Rab jacket I own, are medium(microlight jacket, electron pro, xenair jacket and alpine, kinetic, cirrus flex), so I went with a medium on this, but had to exchange to a small. ( 1.78 m. / 78kg, wear size 30 in pants)cheers!
