I grabbed this for fun, looking for another project to fiddle with and keep the hand-eye coordination up to snuff. My career has taken me away from the day-to-day hands-on work, so now I keep up some of those skills and dexterity in the evenings with things like this. The kit had no missing parts, and the instructions were easy to follow. This would be a great kit to use in a teaching environment. Having used a soldering iron as a primary tool many times in my career, this project only required a couple hours of my time, but it was fun and served its purpose.Upon completion, it's a functional radio that can be used as such or as a tool, being small enough to use as a bench sound source. This is likely what will become of this kit, at least for the short term.Highly recommended for those wanting practice or to learn, or for those teaching a class. Good stuff!

Out of the 4 or 5 DIY soldering kits I've ordered over the past year or so, this radio was hands down the most enjoyable build and sharpest in appearance fully assembled. Each step is outlined very clearly in the instruction manual with text and images, and many extra components are included in case you happen to lose one.In terms of difficulty, most of the soldering is a breeze though you'll likely want a finer tip with the thinner pins of the digital display, IC sockets and receiver board (U3).Last, the quality and appearance of the acrylic case greatly exceeded expectations. The acrylic is 3mm thick and each side fits together flawlessly. It really rounds out the overall aesthetic of the finished radio and gives it a look above and beyond what I'd expected. It would certainly make a solid desktop piece. After assembly, the radio's volume, channel +/- and seek functions worked perfectly. Volume is what you would expect for a speaker of this size and works well in a small room.5 stars overall for an incredibly enjoyable radio build, highly recommended and would order again.

Id like to start my review by saying that I was not able to finish the project due to my own fault.Im trying to teach my kid the basics on soldering and electronics. Im trying to let him do as much as he can do, however, due to my own fault, he melted the PCB thus damaging it.This is by all means my fault. The kit is great, and I will be buying replacement parts in order to make it work.I think that my fault is that I'm pushing my kid on these projects; I think it would be much more appropriate for a 10 to 12 y/o.The instructions are clear, and the quality of the components are top notch.I will update my review once we finish the project.

This soldering kit is really cool. It's not so much a beginner kit, though beginners could do it, but it's accurately listed as being for practice, and that's what I think it's perfect for. The instructions have a part list that does not show pictures, so you would benefit from having basic knowledte of parts. Even if not, though, you could get through it, but it might take a bit longer. The instructions themselves are really good, and those do have pictures to help you along. I read through the booklet but have not yet assembled it, and the instructions are clear and solid. The parts themselves are pretty good quality. The low cost seems to be with using a plastic shell, and I think that was a good choice. The plastic is durable and strong and should withstand mistakes. Overall, this is a fantastic kit that will reward diligent assemblers with a radio at the end.

I've always been fascinated by electronics, and this $25 DIY FM radio soldering project was the perfect way to learn more about how radios work. It's a fun and engaging kit that combines hands-on learning with a nostalgic finished product.**The "Tuned In" Points:*** **Educational and Engaging:** This kit provides a great introduction to basic electronics and soldering techniques. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, making it suitable for beginners.* **Nostalgic Design:** The finished radio has a retro vibe with its acrylic case and large speaker. It's a cool throwback to old-school radios.* **Functional Radio:** It's not just a decorative piece. The radio actually works! I can tune in to my favorite FM stations and enjoy clear sound.* **Great Value:** $25 is a reasonable price for a DIY electronics kit that provides both educational value and a functional finished product.**The "Static" Points:*** **Soldering Required:** You'll need some basic soldering skills to assemble this kit. If you're completely new to soldering, you might want to practice a bit first.* **Some Components Might Be Missing:** A few reviewers mentioned missing components in their kits. Double-check everything upon arrival.* **Sound Quality:** The sound quality is decent, but it's not audiophile-grade. It's perfect for casual listening, but don't expect high-fidelity sound.* **Limited Features:** It's a basic FM radio with no additional features like Bluetooth or an alarm clock.Overall, I'm really happy with this DIY FM radio soldering project. It's been a fun and rewarding experience, and I now have a cool, retro radio to show for it. If you're looking for an engaging way to learn about electronics or just want a nostalgic DIY project, I highly recommend giving this one a try.

I recently got into soldering and this is the highest quality kit thus far. The sound is actually pretty good too.
