If you don't know about the old school clear bubble corks they are great for easily spooked fish like those little bream you're trying to catch for bait, as they glide through the water so smooth, you can even add a treble hook to the back eye as top water feeding fish will sometimes strike at the cork. They are hard to find so grab 'em while you can.
