As a kitchen knife collector, I was wondering, do I really need this cheese slicer?I really dislike the pressure needed to go through cheese blocks with a knife, and the results are never pretty.Anyway, I was thrilled at the quality of materials when this slicer arrived. The handle is a heavy steel, and it feels good in my hands. The roller is some sort of stainless steel and rolls easily. This all helps when slicing through the cheese.The cutting action is great, and finely moderated, thanks to the adjustments on the barrel of the tool. I was able to get very fine slices as well as slightly thicker ones for sandwiches.I kept it to the narrow edges of my fridge-cold Swiss cheese block, but this should also easily cut through room warm cheddar cheese blocks on the widest side. I was able to get about 3-4 slices of well formed cheese out of it, before the cheese blocks takes on a wavy edge. At that point, I either keep going and get uneven slices or I follow up with a knife and cut a straight edge on the block. Both works well.The resulting slices were great for sandwiches! I might skip buying sliced cheese in the future.

The RAINSPIRE Cheese Slicer is a solid, simple design that appears to be built for the long run, nice.It feels solid when you pick it up, weighs 6.3 ounces. I'd throw it the backpack for our next hike through Cheese-Heaven France, but I'd have to leave about 3 pairs of socks at home to make up the weight.The box it comes in gives a list of cheeses the slicer is appropriate for, which are medium hardness cheeses, good advice.Don't try to force it on super hard cheeses and super-soft cheeses can stick to the roller.The thickness of the slice is easily set with the two side thumbs screws, no screwdriver necessary.A small screwdriver and a few extra cutter wires are thoughtfully provided should you ever need to replace the wire.Would be an appreciated high quality gift that will last a long, long time.

Every time I think about it I always buy a big block of cheese and I always forget to purchase one of these cheese slicers so I'm always cutting cheese and half of it stuck to the knife.Finally I remembered this cheese slicer is absolutely amazing it's a very good quality nice nice heavyweight to it it definitely is not going to break on you.I like that the fact that they give you some extra cheese wires and the cool thing is too is they give you a little mini screwdriver for it to replace them. How thoughtful is thatYou can also adjust the thickness that you want your cheese to be I find that to be the best because normally I make cheese sandwiches and and grilled cheese sandwiches and those two if you're if you're putting it on a piece of egg you don't want it too too thick cuz it will never melt and then if you're making grilled cheese of course you want a little bit more cheese you want to be a little thicker so I love how versatile it is like I said it's got a good weight to it so when you hold it in your hand the handle it's got a nice balance I have never to be honest with you found a cheese slicer that has such a weight to it usually they're made of a different type of metal and they're very light this is like this is heavy duty like you could carry this in your toolbox heavy duty.To finish this off I think anybody would be happy with this because it's so adjustable versatile it's actually very fancy too so I don't know if if maybe you are entertaining you might be able to actually get away with leaving this on one of the cheese boards.
