Last year I ordered a set of Rancho RS9000XL limited lifetime warranted shocks for my truck because I needed heavy duty shocks on the rear of my truck for towing my 10,000 lb fifth wheel trailer. When I received them, one of the shocks had no nitrogen pre-charge and had to be replaced. I installed the good shocks on my truck and set them at their highest damping setting and they were fine for a while. This summer I towed my trailer to Alaska and by the time I returned, the back end of my truck was bouncing like a pogo stick. Also, one of the damping adjustment knobs had been broken off, probably by a piece of gravel thrown from the front tire, so I question durability. However, I decided maybe the frost heaves on the Alaska highway were just too much abuse for the shocks, so ordered some replacement Rancho RS9000XL shocks. When they arrived, one of them was covered in oil. I wiped it off and set it aside overnight. The next morning, it was covered in oil again. Apparently it had a leaky seal in it. That is a 50% track record of bad Rancho RS9000XL shocks received and one good set that I used failing after only a year and about 20,000 miles. I have never had such a bad experience with any other shocks I have purchased. I decided to just return the shocks and go with some Bilsteins. We will see how that works out long term.

Installed on my '21 F350 which is used to pull a heavy 5thWheel RV; it is a 4x4 w/11K lb GVWR. I wanted the shocks to manage the load, via the adjustable compression damping, without adding more spring force via air bags. The installation was straight forward, the adjusters are easily reached, and the adjustment provides a significant range of damping. Still tuning the loaded ride but will probable settle in on #7 or 8, while the #4 setting reduced some of the ride harshness while running with no load (as compared to the OEM shocks). The con, at this point, is that the adjuster knobs are a bit sharp on the finger when rotating the settings.
