I should have listened and just bought the $25 original HPI part. The pull start lasted about 20 short pulls before snapping like in the other reviews. I had purchased a 125ft roll of micro cord to inevitably replace the cord. After replacement, the new cord is already chafing and fraying against something inside the pull start housing after a few test pulls. Complete crap.The thing is, the cord is fraying at the exact same spot as the previous one. That's how I came to the conclusion it's not a weak cord, it's the pull start housing that is a really really poor design. Spend the money on a original part if you can, eBay is a great source for parts or Amain.I looked closely at the pull start housing and couldn't find any sharp places the cord can rub against. The only thing the cord touches in the housing is the brass guide that is SUPPOSED to prevent fraying. Next time the cord snaps I'll try and flip it inside out as it has more of a smoother opening. I'll update if it works but for now this junk stays at 1-star.Pros:- It's fits a HPI Nitro Star S-25 engineCons'- It couldn't even start the engine without snapping, and the engine is over 20 yrs old.

My biggest issue with this is that the pull cord keeps coming out after 5 or 6 pulls. Running it on a 3.3 motor and by the te I get it to the point it will crank over the chord comes out and I have to tear it apart and re spool the line. Very frustrating when all you wanna do is race or bash your car.

I bought 3 of these at one shot for my three cars. One seemed to be better quality then the other two. The two of less quality broke within 6 pulls the third one took about 10 pulls then snapped bought roto starts for all three i wish pull starts came in better quality but it seems they simply do not. Worst part was i had the glow plug turned out for less compression and they all still broke with a tiny 6 inch pull didnt even go half way with the amount i could of pulled.

cheap!!! don't bother buying these. I suggest finding part for a kyosho/hpi equivalent engine size/pullstarter. broke right away, didnt even get the vehicle started.
