I bought a new jensen about $30.00 you get what you pay for it wouldn't even record, this one is used and still much better and much smaller and when I record I can hear it very well and this unit seems much higher quality as well.Sound is great, very happy with this purchase.Update-still in use I use this everyday for hypnotic programming and it is still working great. I've had 3-4 of these verious brands, and most quit by this time with this much use. I think this is a quilty casette recorder and this one I bought used.

Returned. Would not received. Poor quality compared to the one I had that quit working, the Sony TCM-939 that was 10 years old. I was lucky enough to find what said was the lastTCM-939 and it quite after 11/2 years! Luckily, I found Columbus Radio in Winnipeg run by an old fashioned super gentleman 8p years young who was able to fix Both at a Very reasonable price! So, I now have 2, like new condition. Great for voice recording.

A great working recorder that exceeded my expectations. Very affordable price as these machines are getting harder to find!

I purchased this in order to record family members talking about the family history and plan on putting it all to paper. I needed something that was 1) user friendly (as opposed to those digital recorders); 2) reasonably priced (as opposed to those digital recorders); and 3) easy to operate (again, as opposed to those digital recorders). This recorder met all 3 requirements. I wasn't intimidated by the size (which isn't all that big) -- this recorder fits into a Ziploc zipper plastic food bag beautifully, along with the mike and cord. The only downside is that the microphone connector cord is so short. When I'm recording family members, it takes a some thought to set up the recorder + mike conveniently so that I get optimum clarity from the subject who is speaking. Admittedly I have not used it without the mic so I cannot write comment about using it with no mic. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase. If you're looking for a recorder that is a no-brainer to operate, this is it.

If you would like to get the newest, flashiest gadgets for your audio needs.......this is NOT for you. This tape recorder uses plain, inexpensive cassettes, does not play MP3s, does not easily download to your laptop, like the new-fangled flash memory recorders from Sony or Olympus. THAT is the down side. On the other hand, this tape recorder is inexpensive, easy to use and will provide you better sound ( a large speaker) than most flash memory recorders, at a much lower price. For my needs, taping a lecture, interviewing a person, etc., this is ideal.

I bought this unit to convert some old family recordings to digital audio files. It worked for a day or two but then started having major speed playback problems. After I noticed the problem the first time, I messed with the buttons for a while and got it to play at normal speed. I haven't been able to fix it the second time. I have one tape left to convert and might have to buy another player just for that. Extremely annoying. Poorly made product. Don't buy it.

With today's technology, this has become a difficult item to find. This one does everything I need it to do and is more than adequate. Tape recorders have become scarce (and therefore more expensive than they used to be) but if you need one this is a good choice.

This is a nice recorder. When playing music or stories the sound is good. The mic made a good recording. The saying is true that "they don't make them like they used to" concerning "solidness" of the machine. It works very good but the buttons and the tape lid are thinner plastic than they used to be. It makes the buttons hard to push with one hand. I have to hang on the the back part to get it pushed down hard enough to click. Also, it has automatic shut-off if it is playing, not if it is rewinding or fast-forwarding.

I had been hanging on to a large "Boom Box" type radio just for the cassette player, and wanted to replace it with a smaller unit that I could also use recording contacts on my Ham radio. This unit is small and came with an internal and a external mike, as well as a power supply to save on batteries. It is no bigger then a paper back book and will do a good job for me. I through out the big boom box and saved a lot of room. RCA makes a good recorder as I have owned them in the past. I am very happy with this unit.

I love this cassette recorder. I purchased it to listen to some old cassettes we had with our first born talking at 3 years old. The sound was clear and the recorder was easy to use. So happy we have it now. Would absolutely recommend it.

Although it isn't the highest quality, I only need it to playback old tapes. I plugged it into my power conditioner, and the tape hiss was much less than expected. I recorded two tapes from a 1981 recording session, and the quality was fine. The mic is a joke, but I won't ever record to cassette anyway.

I guess it's worth the low price I paid. It's very hard to activate the mode - hard to press. Once it's on, the sound is excellent. I've waited months to get a cassette player, as my boom boxes are getting cranky. I am enjoying my best-loved cassette tapes. Thanks!
