Like many others, my Ford Escape 2012 liftgate hinges eventually corroded and broke. These replacements seem okay, but installation was a pain. I made the mistake of reusing the factory-installed OEM nuts for the lower hinge bolt, which are much more robust and come with a built-in washer. I attempted to tighten to the manufacturer's spec (97 inch-pounds). This caused the internal bolt hole threads on the new hinge to break, so the bolt would not catch. I cleaned out the debris and tried again, failing over and over.Eventually I decided to try lowering the tightening force to 80 inch-pounds, and also used the included smaller nuts, along with some spare washers I had. Success!I'm cautiously optimistic as the included fastening hardware is not as robust as the OEM, and is not able to withstand Ford's recommended tightening spec. We'll see if these hold up.Side note: this has no impact on my review, but I had to clean a ton of corrosion while removing the old rotten parts. Use extreme care when trying to remove a corroded bolt stuck in glass. I used various solvents and a metal pick to painstakingly carve the corroded bolt out of the glass without shattering it.

Very pleased with these hinges. I bought these for my son's 2009 Escape and they were easy enough to install that my son (16yo) did it himself without much assistance. You're gonna need a ratchet with sockets and star bits to make the process easier but not much else in the way of tools, maybe a flathead screwdriver, but we got by without one. Would definitely by this product again if needed.

After one of the liftgate hinges on my truck broke apart, I decided to try these liftgate hinge replacements. They came with the necessary pieces for the replacement. I was able to replace them myself easily on a Saturday morning. Although these do not come with instructions, step-by-step instructions are widely accessible on other platforms. They look sleeker than the original hinges did (even when new)! They have lasted for several months, through frozen snowy weather to bumpy roads to hot sweltering days. Would strongly recommend this purchase.

Work exactly the same as the original manufacturer’s product did, and even slightly better since this one had a protective coating on the inside of the hinge to prevent corrosion (something the manufacturers original parts neglected). The only thing recommended is to make sure the waterproof seal (not included with this product, should be on your car already) is still intact, as they seem to degrade overtime. You can order a new seal, or seal the hinge on your car with some silicone caulking if you’re really desperate. Overall, highly recommend this part as a replacement; great quality, perfect fit, and a whole lot less expensive.

I ordered these hinges when I noticed cracks on the ones on my 2011 Escape. Two days later I have them installed and don’t have to worry about losing the back window. There are several good videos online that show how to replace these and it “should” take about 30 to 45 minutes to remove the old ones and install the new ones. In my case one of the screws was so badly rusted I could not use the star bit to remove and had to resort to drilling it out. I used a 7/32 bit and was extremely careful to make sure I was drilling in the center of the screw as straight as I could to avoid hitting the glass. If the bit wanders it could hit the glass and shatter it (it is tempered glass). These parts have a finish on the inside where the originals did not. This should help reduce the corrosion that the originals experience. So in theory these are better than the originals. I included a picture of the original to show the extent of the corrosion.Only issue I have with this product is the nuts povided. In the picture you can see that the attached washer is much smaller than the original. I reused the original. Would be nice if they could update their product with a larger attached washer, I did not ding them for a star because type original can be used.
