Died less than two months in service. Given how infrequent sump pumps may trigger, I was unable to run this enough before the Amazon return window closed. If you purchase this, I encourage you to find a way to pressure test that the pump works consistently and over time as soon as possible in case you have to return it.

This pump is quieter than I imagined one could even be. Additionally, this 1/3rd hp is plenty powerful enough for my basement sump needs.I highly recommend this pump.

The plumber who installed it said that this pump will only work for 2-3 years and he tried to sell me a different pump, hmmmm. I've only had it for a month, so far so good.

Purchased this as a "like new" warehouse deal and as far as i could tell it was brand new other than the box appeared to have been opened. Nicely made and appears to be of high quality. Runs very quietly. Recommended.

I purchased this pump to replace a 20 year-old 1/2 HP Zoeller that empties an outdoor sump pit where all my yard runoff, plus 200 feet of rain gutters, drains into. The old Zoeller drew a little over 10 amps and had a 2-inch discharge in order to move about 60 gallons a minute. It had a float switch with a just a few inches of play from "on" to "off," so it was cycling every 15 or 20 seconds, around the clock, when it was raining. So no wonder it was that switch that finally failed. This Red Lion has a 1 1/2-inch discharge, draws half the wattage of the Zoeller and stills moves over 50 gallons a minute--which is far beyond my requirement. What I like best is that the Red Lion has a tethered float switch. The length of the tether can be adjusted, but the default proved perfect for my 18-inch by 18-inch pit, giving me an 8-inch depth range from start to stop. In a heavy rainfall, that's a cycle interval of around two or three minutes--not the two or three times per minute of the old Zoeller pump. Wiring in the two leads--one being for the switch, the other to the pump--took a little thought but was easily solved with a small waterproof junction box that contains a four-pole wiring block. I'm including my schematic in one of the pictures I'm adding here.Above all, if you want a quiet pump, this is THE ONE! I cannot hear it run, standing directly over the pit with the cover off. I know it's running because I can see the water level dropping, but that's really about it!

Let's cut to the point, we all needed a sump pump especially during heavy rain fall or if you live where your water table is high like me... plus if your water is high on iron... a regular sump pump will not cut it... as it will eventually be clog up with iron build up if it have small screens to help filter out debris...(Excuse my wording...) SO...On the plus side, it's...1) Cast Iron -very sturdy...heavy...2) Very quite... -I couldn't even hear it upstairs in the room right above the pump...3) Arrived 5 days earlier then the indicated dates... -Which is a plus when I REALLY needed it (Ahem, snow melting...basement flooding...current sump pump always clog up...shssss...)My house is old...so it has sands that gets deposit where the pump is...THIS sump pumps pumps the sands out...no problem...phew...thought it was going to clog...If it4) Suck up a rock, which stop the fan blade, but once I pulled the rock out, it went right back to working just fine.. (it's been a week, it's still going...)On the negative side, it...1) the on and off switch broke off when I tried to straighten it..it's plastic..., didn't quite fit with the rest of the pump...disappointing...2) The legs could have been at lease an extra 1 to 2 inch longer to prevent the pump from sucking in big rocks on the bottom...SO, I had to turn a 5 gallon bucket into a bucket screening to allow water to flow in and prevent it from sucking the rocks from under the pump.I like this pump so far, if only its maker had pay attention to these small detail, it would be one of the best pump out there...
