Track Photo - Hip-Fin Hip Flexor Release Tool

The Hip-Fin Provides Relief On Demand

The Hip-Fin is a product specifically designed to help lessen or eliminate pain in your lower back, hip, or lower leg by releasing tightness in your hip flexor muscles. A lot of pain in these common areas actually originates elsewhere in the body, but the pain itself is felt in your knee, or back, etc. This is known as referral pain, and your hip flexors are notorious for referring pain to other parts of your body. It is possible to have legitimate pain that is not referred from elsewhere, and thus require targeted treatment directly to the affected area such as the back or legs. Even in cases like these however, the hip flexors can play a huge role in eliminating that pain. The iliacus and psoas major muscles are some of the largest muscles in your body, and until now the only way to target them was by going to a physical therapist or massage therapist. Everyone suffers from tight hips. If you sit, run, workout (to name a few activities), your hip flexors are hard at work which means they are tightening up. Think of them as any other muscles in your body. If you do squats or deadlifts, your muscles get tight and you take action to loosen them up. Hips are exactly the same and although it used to be difficult to get relief, the Hip-Fin was designed to target both the iliacus and psoas major muscles anywhere you are!

Please note! The tip is approximately 3.5" in width and MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR ALL BODY TYPES. Smaller frames may find it difficult to properly use the product. If you have any issues using the product, we would be happy to provide additional instruction and assistance.

Skeletal - Hip Flexor Release

We Live in a Connected World

Back, leg, hip pain, and more...the body is intricately connected and hip tightness refers pain to more places than you may think. Hip tightness might not be the answer to every question, but it can play a large role. Releasing one of the largest muscle groups in your body is always a good place to start.

Target - Hip Flexor Release

Targets Two Muscles

Your training goals and objectives are well rounded, your recovery tool should be too. Hip tightness is found in both the iliacus and psoas major muscles, therefore you must effectively target BOTH to lessen and eliminate your pain and increase your mobility.

Prototype - Hip Flexor Release

Engineering It

Over a year of engineering followed by prototyping to deliver the perfect design: the same shape and curvature of a sports ortho PT's hands, the ability to target two muscles, and the strength to support 100 pounds or 300 pounds...no trivial design here. 100% designed, engineered, and made in the USA.

Why Hip-Fin: The "Hands-On" Approach

The hips have always been an area of concern causing systemic tightness in the anterior chain and in the lumbar spine which can cause pain. This distracts people from the main issue (their hips) and has them chasing phantoms anywhere from their lower back to the lower leg. A technique known as the hip flexor release targets the iliacus and psoas major muscles, and is the most effective way to address this source of pain and dysfunction.

The Hip-Fin was first prototyped and introduced at our physical therapy clinic which focuses on sports and human performance utilizing a manual therapy approach. One of the techniques performed daily on patients is the hip flexor release. This technique consistently gives patients relief from pain and tightness in multiple areas of the body. This led to the development of a tool that replicates our therapists’ hands while performing a hip flexor release so you can experience relief anytime, anywhere.

Follow these 3 easy steps to release the psoas muscle... anywhere, anytime.

How To Psoas 1 - Hip Flexor Release

Step 1:

Find the area on your body halfway between your belly button and your hip bone, at the height of or just below your belly button.

How To Psoas 2 - Hip Flexor Release

Step 2:

On a flat surface, gently lie on top of the Hip-Fin with the angled tip pointing towards your belly button.

How To Psoas 3 - Hip Flexor Release

Step 3:

Allow the Hip-Fin to sink into your body and rock towards your belly button to lock it in place. The pressure will allow the psoas major to release muscle tightness.

Follow these 3 easy steps to release the iliacus muscle... anywhere, anytime.

How To Iliacus 1- Hip Flexor Release

Step 1:

Locate the top of your hip bone and allow your fingers to slide off the bone about an inch towards your belly button.

How To Iliacus 2- Hip Flexor Release

Step 2:

On a flat surface, gently lie on the top of the Hip-Fin with the angled tip pointing towards your hip bone.

How To Iliacus 3- Hip Flexor Release

Step 3:

Rock towards the outside of your hip bone to lock the Hip-Fin in place. This will cause pressure through the iliacus allowing it to release. You may feel a sensation in the top of your thigh.

My daughter is an RMT and told me about this. It works.

Back when I bought this, I thought "welp I might be throwing money away if this doesn't work," but at the time I just needed better tools to get my hips to release when they are angry. I came back to review bc it is so good and I use it all the time.Yesterday my lower back was tight and also pulling down on my ribcage, even though I had done som extensive stretching during an hour of yoga. I knew my hips were the culprit but hip stretches weren't enough so I took a few minutes on the hip fin---it hurts so good when you most need to use it, and you know you are going to feel relief so you breathe through it. The immediate improvement after about 5 minutes (total, used in both directions on both hips), made me think "hmmm did I ever review this thing? bc it turned out to be a lifesaver." And that's how I dug up this order so I could let folks know that this tool is worth every penny. It is super sturdy plastic with coating over the points, and it does the deep dive to reach the psoas and iliacis that you normally need a pro massage therapist to get to. It comes with instructions but it's also pretty intuitive. If you sit a lot, if you are a runner or a lifter.....pretty much if you are a human whose hinges get a little too tight sometimes, this will improve your well-being. You should probably use it everyday, but I admittedly remember to use it when I feel tightness in my hips.

Works really well. Hurts like a mf when I first used it, but I knew it would. I’ve been struggling with hip flexor issues for about 3 months. After massage it would be better for a day or 2. I felt some instant relief, but after a long time of pain I expect to have to use this regularly for a few weeks. If you are having pain and are waffling due to the price, just get it. It is less than a massage, and you can use it more often.

Weird to use at first... had to watch the video a couple of times and it took some trial and error but I do actually think it significantly helped release some hip tightness I've had for a long time after just one use. Going to keep it to use as needed. I would recommend but just be careful not to hurt yourself while using it, as the instructions aren't 100% clear. Had to google exactly where the muscles I was targeting were located.

Wish there were sizes. This was too large that I have a hard time targeting the right muscles. Very awkward also, as the rubber on top tends to prevent it from slipping into the inner curve of the iliac. After 3 tries, I just developed a bruise after noticing how tender the area had become. I have better results using the Wahls massager (ball shaped attachment).

I didn’t feel instant relief like others but I think it helped, tbh, not really sure. I used the instruction book and looked up online on several different websites to try to figure out if I was doing it right. I don’t want to give a bad review if it’s user error. But I also think they can provide better instructions on usage.

Just awkward, if you have pain like I do, you can’t use it. I would not buy again.

When I laid myself on the floor and positioned the Hip Fin to put pressure on my psoas and iliac muscles, I found it difficult to balance myself so I could rest there so the muscles could release. I kept trying to find a position where I could just sit and let it do it's thing. In the end, I returned the product and didn't find it useful.

I prefer using the Thrival board, but I kept this because I figured it might be useful if I can learn how to use it. It isn't as intuitive. So far I've used it on my hip, but I'm not sure I did so correctly. With Thrival and lacross balls, the pain tells you when you hit the right spot. I didn't get that with this one. It's a little awkward to use as well, especially if you've got other injuries going on. It's sturdy and well-made, and that plus the reviews made me decide to keep it. Maybe one day I'll figure it out.

I'd been experiencing pretty bad hip pain, especially when squatting and doing deadlifts, to the point where I couldn't do the exercises properly. Stretching hadn't worked, but I just gave this a try for about 5 minutes, and the pain is completely gone. Pretty amazing, and I'm back doing squats and deadlift pain-free a few minutes after this arrived
