I really like this bit. Well made, no sharp edges. Different feel in the horses mouth.

I bought this for a somewhat troubled Kentucky Mountain Horse mare who recently came into my life and was billed as a great trail horse (which she is). However, she did not know how to turn or stop properly and refused to accept the leg aids. She was going in a curb bit and I wanted to back her off into a snaffle to help address some of the things that bothered her. She accepted this bit very quickly although it took about a month of quiet work with her to help her understand it. She is both a dominant and sensitive mare and requires some tact. However, she is now a much softer horse, is beginning to reach for the bit and is listening to both seat and leg aids. I can both neck rein and of course, direct rein using this bit and she will travel on a loose rein out and about. This is a balanced, quality bit and the weight is not an issue. It compares to other quality bits.

Pleased with this purchase after reading the reviews. Practiced at home on my mare, because she will pull to eat grass or whatever. Then used for trail riding all weekend, she was more soft, responsive, easy to neck rein around trees. Never once pulled. Very pleased and would purchase again. Now my hubby wants once for his young mare.

Excellent quality. My mare immediately liked this bit, and is very responsive to it. I have tried egg butt snaffle, slow twist snaffle, and this bit. She likes the bit better than either of the other two, and is distinctly more responsive to it. The connection to the bridle provides a more stable bit position, making it more consistent for the horse.

My horse accepted this bit immediately and was very comfortable. No more chomping or opening her mouth or chewing. The sweet iron mouthpiece helps the horse to salivate and is supposed to get rusty! One review was complaining about that, but that is what it is supposed to do. If you don't want that, buy the model with the stainless steel mouthpiece, not the sweet iron. I like how the bit is stable in my horse's mouth because of the separate attachment for the bridle. We went on a 10 mile ride the first time she wore it and she was so calm! I definitely recommend this bit.

I bought this bit for my young horse. She loves it! No surprise, I've used Reinsman bits for decades, and needed to add this one to my collection as this horse had a little different need than others I've had. She loves it and that's what counts. I see some people complain that these bits rust. Yes, they do! They're sweet iron and they're meant to rust to promote mild salivation in the horse's mouth and the texture will help the horse pack the bit. This is a superficial rust, not the same as a dangerous rusty poor quality bit that will injure the horse's mouth or even break. I highly recommend Reinsman bits, and this one did not disappoint! Also . . . MADE IN THE USA!

Love love this hackamore. I have both my horses riding in them now. They stay in place and make eating and drinking a breeze on trail. Easy to relieve pressure and reward quickly with this hack. Much better than a lil S IMO
