I am using this on the 5x14 snare that came with my new Sonor Player kit. The snare came with a Remo Coated UX which was thin and high on treble. Previously on a Tama 6x14 snare I was using a Coated Controlled Sound which I liked very much save for the loss of stick-bounce caused by the dot. But this head is completely different--where I tuned the CS high on the 6x14, I tune this head on the 5x14 low-ish to add depth. I find this to be a surprisingly resonant head for the Emperor weight. It has a very warm, full-bodied, and sensitive response, very "alive." I keep thinking of Bonzo whenever I hit a rimshot--the sound is chunky and woody and thick, much like what you hear in the intros to D'yer Maker and Moby Dick. I use no dampening. This is my new favorite head for my snare.

This head sits perfectly on my Sonor Delite snare. It just opens up the shell of the drum and makes the drum so so sensitive. I tried a Remo coated ambassador but found myself looking for a bit more. I found it in this head. It has the meat to take a beating, its perfect for most types of playing and is sensitive to your stick. Some people might say,Why an Emperor on your snare? For me,it just works and my drum has never sounded better!
