I bought the Remo Silent Stroke / Zildjian L80 package and it had the wrong size on one of the heads for my kit so this was to replace it. Amazing how much quieter it is. Takes some time to get the feel right with tuning but worth it.

I'll sure I'll need this for one of my toms at some point, but the silenstroke doesn't for my ddrum 6" snare. Which is clearly explained on the packaging but probably less visible than it should be on the product listing. Will (maybe) update whenever it goes on a tom.

Added a full set of these to an acoustic kit outfitted with Extreme Drum triggers and they work great as a very low sound electronic kit I can play when my kids are sleeping. They are more bouncy than an acoustic head, but you can get used to them very quickly. They also work well as a very low volume practice kit set-up. The multi ply heads do have a better feel, but they are louder, so it is all about balancing what your needs are.

In the 5 decades I have been playing drums these heads are one of the most innovative additions to the craft. I have used electronic drums in the past but there is a vast difference in playability, feel, and feedback when between an electronic kit and an acoustic kit. These heads combined with low volume cymbals, allow percussionists (Drummers) to take up their acoustic kit and keep their Grooves and Chops fresh with the tactical feel and feed back of regular drum heads at 10-20 percent of the volume. These heads don't tune the same as normal batter resonant heads. The resonant heads will need to be higher tension in order to vibrate easier. The batter (mesh) head will then need to be tuned for maximum drum resonance. This needs to be done is small increments (1/8 turn or less) as one can easily by pass the spot at which the head provides the most resonance and wind up with a choked sound. Start with 1/2 turn of the drum key after all the lugs first snug against the rim by hand. Afterword tighten no more than 1/8th turn at a time, listening for that sweet spot of maximum resonance. The snare head is the only problem with the mesh head approach, however that can be resolved with some fine tuning.I use these heads for daily practice, they keep me tuned up muscle as well as eye hand coordination and mental acuity related to the result of my playing ability. Since one can hear the sticks hitting the head, there is a feed back to the user where there might be weakness in ones playing approach.Get some.... Try them .... enjoy them ..... you will be amazed..... You can play your kit without disturbing the neighbors or the family..... they will love it and so will you.

The feel is very similar to a regular drumhead. You don't get that sort of pop/percussive feel that you would normally get from a mid to higher tuned real head of this size but the feel is pretty similar to a real head. It has a similar bounce to a regular head but because of the springiness of the mess it actually feels more like playing a bigger head. Especially a heavier head. I normally use Remo Pinstripes on my toms so they're a little heavier so the feel of this feels like a lighter density version of something like that with a bit more mushiness when hitting repeatedly and quickly. I actually really like it on my practice set. I've used other brands and this one has been more consistent over time.

This head is awesome! Not only is it incredibly quiet, it is also very durable. A lot of people ask, "Will it hold up under my sticks?" The answer is yes. I have had this head on my snare for over a month now, and so far, it has not shown even the slightest signs of the normal wear and tear you would get with a regular head. One thing I have trouble with, is hitting the drum about three times harder than I normally hit it, because it is so quiet. my ears tell me to hit the drum harder to get a louder sound. However, this head has held up amazingly well, through all my hard hits, this past month. The heads are very responsive, and have excellent rebound. One nice thing about these heads is that they decrease the overtones you would get with a normal head. You do not need any overtone killers on these babies. One thing you should know about these heads is that chewed up sticks will tear the heads, so I recommend using nylon-tipped sticks. These heads were meant for practice, but I have found that they also function well in a studio environment. These drum heads are an excellent product.

I have a 5 piece setup in my living room fitted with remo silentstroke heads which serves as my main practice kit. For those in a living situation that does not allow full volume practice, Remo really knocked it out of the park - the rebound, feel, and durability of these heads is excellent. Before these I was stuck using practice pad sets (with the little tree stands) which were unsightly, louder, and had very limited setup options. When I noticed these at my local music I decided to pick up a 14" to test the waters - before the end of the day I was back to buy the full set. Probably the best investment I've made in a long time because not only can I wail with much lower volume, I'm playing on my actual setup versus having to transpose my skills from tiny 8" rubber pads. A quick tip - these are quiet with a hint of tone, but if you want even lower volume remove the bottom heads/rims from your drums and use either hot rods or cool rods instead of regular sticks. This is how I have my kit setup and you could easily sleep in the next room without hearing a sound.
