You would think two screws would make for an easy installation. Not true. The bottom screw can easily be inserted because the knocker can open wide enough to provide screwdriver contact to the screw. The top screw is very close to the hinge making it virtually impossible to get a screwdriver to mate with the screw. In my case, the screwdriver slipped off (because of the angle needed to contact the head of the screw), and that slip put a long visible scratch in the door paint. This is a classic case of poor engineering/design.On the positive side, the knocker is attractive and heavy, so I'm happy with it now that it's installed. Once installed, you'll definitely know if someone's knocking (or scratching) at your door. :-)Re-design recommendation: Drill a hole through the oak leaf at the location of the top screw in order to permit a thin screwdriver to pass through the leaf to the screw. The hole would hardly be noticeable because of the color (black) and the texture of the leaf.

I bought this for my front door. Have not installed it yet. Very sturdy and will look perfect on my red front door.

Very pretty and quite large. You can see them from the road. Heavy metal with nice detail.

I purchased this door knocker as I wanted something to reflect country living. The price was good for this cast iron piece measuring 6 1/4" long, as is the weight. It came with no mounting hardware which I thought was odd and that's why I rated it low on the install rating. Annoyingly I am disappointed with the overall look. I haven't attempted to mount it and it has sat in its box. I am disappointed with this purchase and it's because it doesn't look like the one advertised. It is a version but not the one you see for sale. The item advertised on Amazon has contour that looks like fallen leaves laying naturally one on top of each other. The one sent looks amateur in comparison, like it was made with an oak leaf cookie cutter. I do know I wouldn't have ordered it if the company picture looked like the one I took to show you (esp at $30).

I look out the windows and see oak trees, and my screen door is metal with oak leaves, so when our second battery-driven doorbell gave out I decided to use a simple knocker instead. Installed on a metal door, changed the screw size for my door, it went on easliy. I'm not thrilled with the total black, but in the spring (now in a snowy winter) I will paint oak colors on it for a custom look. Yes, there were bits of black iron type something in the packaging but didn't seem to be anything from the actual knocker.

Not as dimensional as I hoped it would be. Very flat with the vein texture being the only raised part. Very heavy and well made.

Overall I really like this door knocker. It is well made, sturdy, and attractive. My only complaint is mounting them. The knocker doesn't go up to a 90 degree angle from the door, so I had to get a special bent screwdriver to try and get the screws in (no impact driver for this job...) Then I discovered the screws were flat head brass painted black. Sounds good until the upper one got stripped out. It is now sticking out about half an inch and I can't get it in there any further.I would recommend this product, but I would recommend anyone who purchases it pick up a pair of steel Phillips head screws to install them.
