The keyboard is missing on/off state indicator lights on multiple special keys along the top row. The mouse track point cap prevents movement as it's made up entirely of rubber unlike the original which is a mix of rubber and hard plastic.

Tried replacing the keyboard on G3. Unfortunately waited until the return time has passed. The cable connectors did not match and one of the connections did not have a cable. Now the old keyboard also does not work. May not be worth the effort.

Installed on my work laptop instead of replacing additional parts since the laptop is not very old. I am tech-savvy enough and have repaired my fair share of electronic components, large and small. Everything has to be removed from the laptop to replace this keyboard, which is plastic welded to the motherboard frame. It was a stupid design by HP, but not the fault of the keyboard manufacturer. The keyboard works, as does the nubbin. The only downside with the product itself is that the keyboard backlights are dim and uneven compared to the original, which is not too big of a deal but notable.Please proceed at your own risk and be ready to put a lot of effort into it.

It's a decent replacement and everything works, but the design of the ribbon connection for the middle pointer is not the same as the HP original and the clip that you lift to slide in the cable is VERY fragile. Knowing that, I was careful, but it still broke off. The original cable had a sticky section on it that helped hold it in place without the clip, but I ended up putting a piece of tape over the port and cable to help prevent it from sliding back out.

I bought this for my brother's laptop which had a faulty keyboard, and it fits and works perfectly. He's not mentioned any issues with it, so I assume everything is working flawlessly. It's a shame it's not the UK layout, but there weren't any backlit UK keyboards in stock at the time. This works as an excellent alternative.
