FIX your ailing Garmin GPS! I was getting a failure message that system software was not loading for my 1490 model that is 8 years old. Was not charging in automobile; 'charged' when connected via USB. But, still when wonky intermittently, even after keeping USB connected and updating and backing up everything on it. Finally, thinking rechargeable battery MAY be pooched, I searched for replacement batteries on web, and for how to removed and install on youtube. Bought the battery, reviewed the video and completed replacement. Fired up and still got the failure to load system software error. Frustrated, I left unit charging via USB overnight and then powered down and powered up and checked for software and map updates and made backup (on Garmin Express). BINGO! It has been running like OEM for two months now. And, I'd called Garmin about this 6 months ago, when it first started going wonky. They helped me do certain software repairs but when that did not fix, they told me it was not repairable. THEY NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT TELLING ME ABOUT REPLACING THE BATTERY! So, give this a try, if you are moderately handy!

Battery did not repair the GPS for which it was purchased. Money was wasted with this purchase. It appears that most GPS devices are "throw away" because this is the second one I've tried to replace that did not perform again.

The original battery for my Garmin 765T was 10 years old. It was getting very hot while charging. One minute after a charge, the Garmin would indicate 50% charge. The new battery was easy to replace, you will need a small phillips screwdriver. It was a 10 minute job. You can locate videos on the web that show step-by-step replacement instructions. The new battery did not come with double back tape which you will need to hold it in place. The Garmin powered up and showed a full charge.

BATTERY WAS GOOD, EASY TO REPLACE AND SEEMS TO WORK WELL. IT DID NOT COME WITH ANY DOUBLE STICK TAPE OR ANYTHING ELSE. NOT AN ISSUE FOR ME, I HAD EVERYTHING I NEEDED, BUT FOR SOME IT MAY BE AN INCONVENIENCE
