Jet nozzle inside pilot melted causing misfires in the burners and damaging ignition wire that I just had repaced. Long story short and after $700 in cost the water heater is now working.Replaced pilot and water heater worked for one day. Second day did worked not reliable. Will not always turn on. After seveal attempts it started misfiring causing the water heater to shut off. Replaced burners as I thought that may be the cause. Continue to have problems. Removed pilot to verify gas was not blocked to discover jet nozzle has melted. I confirmed it was there when first installed it. Purchase new again new pilot (now raypak), new ignition wire, and new burners and works as new. After inspecting old burners did not have signs of rust and when shaked them no rust or other debries came off them. The unit worked perfect for one day or day 1/2. After that it was nothing than problems. I will recomend you stay with the Raypak pilot or keep the old jet nozzle in case it melts. I threw it away (my bad). Pilot looks to withstand the high temperatures.

Would not send spark to light burner. I bought 3 for stock and went to install in heater, I tried two in heater and found no ignition. Tested with meter and found ne continuity from connector to tip.

Works fine in place of the more expensive Raypak pilot light (Raypak's sells for >$110 elsewhere). Has a few minor issues- the mounting screw holes were smaller than expected and needed to be drilled out a little bit, and also it didn't light up on the first install. I had to remove it and take a look after I realized it wasn't lighting; the gap between the element and the mesh on the end was apparently too large so I don't think it was actually sparking... after I bent the element a little closer it worked just fine... not sure how wide that spark gap needs to be so take a look before you install it in case yours has the same issue.
