I replaced mine because it backed out, I used a little high temp rtv gasket maker to make a sort of retaining ring behind it to hopefully help keep that from happening again. If it happens again, I'll consider more drastic measures like peening in a properly sized washer as a backer or taking the shaft out and boring a groove for a cir clip to fasten it in.

This seal is the upper seal under fly wheel not bottom seal. Wish that was in the description. In the vertical motors.
