It works fine so far, but the leash itself isn't very wide and does not look very heavy duty. My dog is about 60lbs and I don't think it could sustain her daily pulls. My last one was wider than this one and it broke under 1 month.

At the price point of an economy leash I have to rate the Makife 5 stars. I've only used it a few times so it will be a while before I can assess the overall quality and longevity.I walk the dog twice a day without fail, so I use a leash a lot. This feels lighter than the name brand one I'm used to but so far the performance is good. I like the cord type better than this ribbon/tape, but my other one is also tape. If you've ever had your dog go in 5 directions at once while you're wearing short pants, you'll appreciate the tape by avoiding rope burns.What I like the best is the very positive latch/lock mechanism. It's not perfect because occasionally you'll hit a gear tooth. A second try finds it's way and it's a very secure lock. A separate release button is very logical and funtions perfectly. The whole design and execution is superior to any I've used. The spring is strong and consistant, retrieving the loose tape in a hurry. I leave it unlocked most of the time and the spring leaves no slack to drag on the ground or get caught in a bush. The swing of my arm while walking causes the tape to go in and out of the leash body and, with the rhythm, there is a soft sound as the texture of the tape rubs the slot - it's not as silent as some are.The one problem with tape designs is the fabric can fold over itself when going back into the reel creating a kink. I've yet to see this but have forced the fold to see if it can occur. It can, and I immediately corrected it, but the potential problem is there. Again, I can't say if this will happen or if it does will have consequences. That's my take on the differences between tape and cord leashes. Even a 15 lb dog like mine can cause a painful burn with the cord. So for that reason alone you may want to go with the tape like this Makife.Update: It's been a week now of using this leash and I've come to love it. It sits next to another name brand leash and everytime I take the dog out I seem to grab this. The lightness, yet incredible strength of both the case and tape, plus the sure control, makes it my go-to choice. My wife says she prefers it as well.Update 2: The leash is not working that great now after just 6 months of use. The lock mechanism can be hard to engage. It's still a good buy, but if you walk your dog a couple miles a day and let him go to and fro with the auto wind, you might not get a years service from this device. Took one star off.

Leash part folds over in half and will not retrack. I have to pull it all the way put, flatten it between my fingers and guide it back in to fully retrack it 😢

The design of this lead is consistent with most other leads, which is advantageous as it ensures durability.The lead's extension and retraction mechanisms function smoothly, and the length is appropriate. This allows dogs to explore without pulling on the lead or causing their owners to be pulled.I would consider purchasing this lead if I were in need of a new one.

This retractable dog lead is a little smaller than others I've used, so it's only suitable for very small dogs I think. It works well though, so good value at the current price of around a tenner.

I've tried a lot of retractable leashes and this one was definitely the winner ! Its well made, very strong leash and is very flexible. Safety is my number one concern and this is the safest by far.

Excellent Quality long lead has a quick touch easy two button lock and release, Comfortable handle, the lead has a good length to allow freedom for the dog doubling as an aid for recall training, the lead is strong enough for a small to small/medium dog. I highly recommend.

I got this Makife Retractable Dog Leash in pink for my cat, Princess, and it has been great for our walks. Even though it’s designed for small dogs, it works perfectly for her. The leash is lightweight and very comfortable to hold, with a non-slip handle that feels secure in my hand. I love that it gives Princess plenty of room to explore with its 16ft length, but still keeps her safe and close enough when needed. The retractable feature works smoothly, and the lead itself is sturdier than the usual fine rope-style ones, which gives me peace of mind.Overall, it’s a fantastic leash for both cats and small dogs, with a durable design and good length for outdoor adventures. Highly recommend!
