I recently had the opportunity to try out the Relhost Retractable Garden Hose Reel , and I wanted to share my honest thoughts based on my experience.➡️ First ImpressionsUpon unboxing, the hose reel appeared robust, with a sleek dark grey design. The 100 ft length and 5/8 inch diameter seemed ideal for my gardening needs. However, I couldn’t help but notice that the unit was quite heavy, making the installation process a bit challenging.➡️ Installation ProcessMounting the hose reel required some effort due to its weight. The included instructions were somewhat vague, and I had to rely on online resources to ensure proper installation. Once mounted, the 180° swivel bracket provided flexibility in directing the hose, which was a plus.➡️ Performance and UsabilityThe auto-rewind system functioned smoothly, retracting the hose without kinks or tangles. The any-length lock feature allowed me to secure the hose at various lengths, catering to different watering tasks. The 10-pattern garden hose nozzle offered versatility, from a gentle mist for delicate plants to a strong jet for cleaning tasks.➡️ Durability ConcernsAfter a few weeks of use, I observed signs of wear on the hose material. The outer layer seemed prone to abrasions, raising concerns about its longevity. Additionally, the plastic components of the reel felt less sturdy than expected for a product at this price point.➡️ Comparison to Other Products on AmazonIn comparison to other retractable hose reels I’ve used from Amazon, the Relhost model stands out for its length and nozzle versatility. However, brands like Giraffe Tools offer similar features with more durable construction and at a comparable price point.➡️ Final ThoughtsWhile the Relhost Retractable Garden Hose Reel offers convenience with its retractable feature and versatile nozzle, the durability concerns and challenging installation process are notable drawbacks. Considering the price, I expected a more robust build quality. Potential buyers might want to weigh these factors against their specific needs before making a purchase.

I was impressed with the quality of this reel. I found it very easy to install however I did need to improvise a little to mount it on a 4x4 post. The screw holes are 3” apart so it would be right on the edge, I added a 2x4 which worked great. The lag screws are a10 mm hex head if you want to use a nut driver to install them. After mounting the post I had the unit installed in under 5 minutes. The hose easily extends with increasing resistance only starting about halfway through the roll. Rolling the hose back up was extremely easy, slightly pulling and then releasing activated the rewind and the hose pulled back very easily. The reel itself pivots which help to keep everything from tangling and made it easy to wind and unwind. I have a large yard and I thought this made it a lot easier to manage the hose.

I have to admit that when the large heavy box arrived I wondered if I’d gone in over my head. But once I had gotten over my anxiety and hung the fixture, this hose has been wonderful.It’s nice having it tangle free, and the retraction rewinding is not only helpful, but retracts without getting stuck.The 100 foot length of the hose allows me to access the front yard with our back yard water. And while it’s a minor part of this package, the biggest surprise was the sprayer. The switch function is a relief for me arthritic hands, and the adjustments being a separate dial makes adjusting the sprayer a breeze.This hose also tidied up our yard since we could say goodbye to our tangled, rolling eyesore of a hose reel.As for mounting the hose, the installation is as simple as mounting the bracket. It was an easy, one-person hang. The fact you can swivel the bracket just adds to the ease of use with hose overall.

I have tried a few different hose reels over the years. I hate having the hose laying on the ground and having to pick it up all the time. I also hate needing the hose for just a few minutes and taking nearly the same amount of time, if not more, to rewind it. This looked like a great solution. It has a much better look than any of the other hose reels that I have had before. Because it can be hung, it takes up very little area. While I won’t call it attractive, it doesn’t really look bad at all. It certainly looks better than most water hose solutions. It’s easy to use. Just pull to get the amount of hose needed. To rewind, just pull slightly to release the inside mechanism and then it rewinds the hose. I thought that with 100ft of hose it could have some issue rewinding, but it has done pretty well. Generally, I don’t need the whole length of hose, but I did try it just to check and it did quite well. This time of year, it hasn’t gotten much use but I’m hopeful it continues to operate as smoothly as it does now. It comes will everything (minus tools) needed to install it. It also comes with the multiselection spray nozzle which is nice. There are a couple of main concerns that I have. The first being that the wall mount is completely made up of plastic. It does seem reasonably secure, but my concern is how it will hold up over time. The hose reel itself is somewhat heavy, add a hose full of water then consider the seasonal changes and sun I wonder if it will continue to be able to support the reel. My next concern is the short hose that connects the spigot to the hose reel. Instead of being a replaceable short hose, it is clamped onto the reel. If anything happens to that hose it will be much more difficult to repair. If there becomes a leak at the crimped end that could spell the end of the reel. In the end, this isn’t my first hose reel, and I’ve had many before this. The reason is that I haven’ found a good hose reel that can actually last. The fact that I can tell that this hose reel will have to be replaced in the future is no surprise and not unlike all the others. I’m super happy with this reel. If I have any issues once I start using it on a more regular basis, I’ll update my review. At this point, I really like it.
