Step1

  • Place gel plate on a clean, flat surface.
  • Apply your choice of paint (acrylic, watercolors, alcohol inks) in small amount to the gel plate.

  • Spread out the paint using a brayer.
  • Ensure the paint is spread into a thin, even layer for best results.

  • Place your template,paper, fabric,or image ect. over your artwork on the gel plate.

  • Gently lift the paper from the gel plate to reveal your stunning piece of artwork.

This is a great little gel press. I was looking to get a smaller one and as I scrolled through I noticed the prices were quite a bit higher just for the gel plate! I figured, what did I have to lose. It has not disappointed. It does exactly what it is supposed to do and I don't have to go looking for anything other than my medium and paper as everything else is supplied! I can't wait to play around with this more. I will try and edit this review at that time, once I have a finished product and I will insert either a photo or video. Highly recommended as it's a great value for the money and it's the perfect size.

I’ve been wanting to try gel plate printing for a while and this nice little set provided me with everything I need to get started (except the paint). I was able to play with it a bit and I am enjoying it. Now I just need to learn how to use it better. I'm very excited to keep using it and learn. I highly recommend this for people who want to see if they like it or just try a new craft.

If you've used gel plates before, you know that they don't last. By nature, they start to degrade, and get build up on them, so, spending tons of money on a brand name gel plate is going to end in disappointment. This is a really good gel plate, works just like the more expensive ones I have, and, because the price is reasonable, I'm not worried about it not lasting forever. All that said, the more you take care of it, the longer it will last, so definitely don't scrimp on that, but this gives you the peace of mind that you aren't wasting a ton of money on something that is just going to start degrading the second you start using it.

The Hosilova Reusable Gel Printing Plate kit has almost everything you need to get started creating your own gel prints. The only thing missing is paint, but that's not a deal breaker for this kit. The plate measures 5 inches x 7 inches x 5/8 inches. The brayer (roller) has a good weight to it and the rubber roller part measures 3 3/4 inches across. It also comes with a textured smoothing disk that's about 4 inches across, and three templates that measure 15mm square. As typical, this gel plated did require 'seasoning' to avoid oily bubble inclusions, but it is as simple as rolling on some acrylic paint and pulling it off with your choice of paper until you don't see any more inclusions when you pull your paper. Regular printer paper works just fine for this step, and you could embellish these sheets as background pages to prevent waste. The cleaning instructions say you can clean this plate with hand sanitizer or mild soapy water, but I've found that gel plates do quite well with a damp cloth (no soap) or a neutral water-based baby wipe. I'm quite pleased with the size, performance, and price point of this gel plate and it has been a welcome addition to my studio. I definitely recommend this.

Doesn't come with paint so no way to try this right out of the box. There's a ton of videos online showing how to use this, although some move pretty fast expecting that you already know something about it.Basic instructions are included as well as some stencils, a brayer (rubber roller), the gel plate, and a knobby little plastic disc. The plastic disc is never explained in either the ad copy or the instructions and I can only deduce that it is to add patterns or textures to your prints.Good starter kit.
