The actual durability of this apron seems good. The straps are nice and thick, and so is the leather. That being said, adjusting the straps makes it feel like they designed this thing for Robert Wadlow. There's way too much excess strap, and even the tightest possible adjustment is a little too loose. The excess strap is perfect for tripping on. I cut the straps down and sewed off the ends so I can avoid a hospital visit. I'm about 6'2 and 175 pounds, so I don't see why it's so hard to get it to fit right. The chest also fits loosely, making a nice big spark and molten metal funnel right on your chest. I haven't figured out a way to fix that yet. Also, they seem to try REALLY hard to hide the fact that it's made in China from potential buyers. I couldn't find a country of manufacture anywhere until I looked at the tag on the apron. While this isn't unexpected, I wish they would just be up front about it.EDIT: I've had this apron for a few months. I've continued to be mildly dissatisfied with the fit. The straps won't sit far enough apart on my shoulders. I'm not a lanky guy, so I'd expect this to fit right. That being said, it has proven very effective. I use it for metal melting and casting, and I can comfortably stand right over my propane furnace without cooking myself. It's also stopped a few spatters of molten copper (2000°F+).

This is just what I was looking for. Comfortable, soft leather, great price, and fit superbly. Great product! It smelled like play doe when I first pulled from its packaging. Nice smell. I am above average in height and getting things to fit well is difficult sometimes, your product fits very well. Awesome.

Excellent quality and fit great. Nice stitching so should last years instead of just a few months.

This was a gift for my grandson. If you have a teenager that is taking a welding class, this is a good investment. Protects the skin and the clothes. Add a welding helmet, shoe covers and sleeves for overall protection. I was told that it fits well, is comfortable, and looks good.

Ok I gave it 5 stars so I'll have to lead with saying I HATE the way the straps cross and that piece of leather that makes the cross over. Not sure how to explain it better but if you set this apron up to fit perfectly, you're gonna have a hard time getting back into it. Still you can shimmy in as you lengthen the one strap around that cross over piece of leather and then shimmy the strap and yourself to get it back to where you had it.Seriously annoying but for the price, it's a fair compromise because the cost would increase for BSX to give you something a bit more functional. BSX is also trying to accommodate the skinny kid up to the fat kid, and I'm definitely on the skinny kid side so again I further understand why they went this route since heavy leather straps that'd take away all this angst would be a blatant higher cost.As for looks, heh, you can seriously get your Horror Film look on with this thing :) Still it protects you very well and I am very pleased with the look and feel!I'm 6' and this goes down to just below my knees. The length is the longest I can find and it's adequate. If they made a longer cut, I'd bought that instead.A tip to get this on besides the shimmy and adjustment you'll need to make to that one strap that goes over the right shoulder crossing the left where you increase the length at the neck/shoulder size and then re-adjust back to where you wanted it..... When you go to strap your legs in, I recommend a saddle stance. If that doesn't make sense, then spread your feet past your shoulders, squat. Once you're in the saddle stance, clip your legs in. Also make sure you keep your straps around your knees and calves tight, but NOT the straps around the thighs. You want those loose otherwise you'll get that drag feel some people complain about.

The way it fastens is not very user friendly. My husband gets tangled up in the criss-crossing straps. We thought the legs would protect his pants at the knee when kneeling down. They do, but he says the straps on the legs get uncomfortable even though he hss them loosely fastenef. It works, but it would be better with some modification of the straps.

For me this was the perfect size. I am 5'11" and the legs end right at the top of my boots. I will say the straps the connect over the head and then around the waist are too small, I am 185lbs and I have it as far out as possible and with a sweatshirt on it's a bit tight..not to the point where it binds or chokes, still workable. The fasteners are on the cheap side and the straps are cotton..leather would have been a better choice here, but for the price, it can't be beat. When they wear out zi will replace with leather and a better snap fastener. I would recommend this split legged apron to anyone wanting good protection and on a budget..they are well worth the price. Very soft, comfortable, great coverage and a good thickness. 5 stars from me regardless of the cheap clips and straps.

Very well made as far as length and leather goes but the fatal flaw that is impossible to overlook is it broke at two separate places because of the plastic parts! At areas that you need in order to use them no rigging it. For a 5'10 1/2" man 180 lbs they are good length. they go to about 1 inch above floor without boots on. they criss-cross in back and clip on the side at waist, the legs have threes straps in the back at thigh knee and ankle they have black plastic (cheap)clips like the kind that are on cheap back backs the straps are wide and thick The riots on the skin are nice and the threading is also done well I will update if anything changes ( i have pictures will try to post)
