I've seen many good reviews about this notebook. I wanted to try it out myself. Fortunately, as described, many of the good reviews were actually accurate. The feel of the leather cover. Impressive. The a6 size is just right in between a5 and pocket size. Gives the right amount of space for the amount of writing.I do but pocket size enough that I can bring it everywhere. It is as fountain friendly as described. And the fountain pen runs smooth on it, like a surfer on a wave. Might have to consider a second purchase as it is better size than the other brand for a better price.

Journal arrived with only a label on the cellophane wrapper. Dirty and banged up a little. This has a glued binding and is not stitched so it doesn’t lay flat all the way when opened. Should be adequately suitable for my needs but not stellar other than the quality of the paper which is ultra smooth for fountain pen use. This is a thinner book which I might prefer. The cover seems substantial. I now know what features maybe more appealing to me for future purchases, the biggest being able to lay flat when opened.

I use the Rhodia SoftCover Notebooks for everything - my journal, work notebook, and sketch book. The Rhodia brand products stand out as a superior choice, but SoftCover is definitely my favorite! The paper quality is simply exceptional. It provides a smooth writing surface that's a joy to use. Ink glides effortlessly across the page without feathering or bleeding, and nice lightly beige color is easy on eyes. The soft, faux leather cover adds a touch of elegance and durability that I feel confident using it at work including during client meetings. The subtle dot grid, instead of bold lines or plain white, provides a gentle structure to guide my writing, without being overly restrictive.

Can’t beat Rhodia’s paper quality. Like writing on silk.

I’m incredibly weird and picky about notebooks. I bought this one in red for my first bullet journal, in March 2018, and immediately fell in love. There’s something humble about it - it’s not fancy, not hardcover, doesn’t have any real bells or whistles, and that somehow made it the perfect thing to get started with bullet journaling. I admit, I get intimidated by pretty journals and stationery - it feels like you’re going to mess it up. Not this. It’s inviting somehow. The leatherette cover is soft and feels good to hold. It opens up completely flat without damaging the spine - I don’t know how they do it. I also hardly ever use up a notebook entirely, or keep up a journaling practice, but I wrote on the last page of that first red rhodiarama in May of 2019. I tried to move onto a different brand after that but it just wouldn’t do, so I bought another one of these in turquoise and I’m back to journaling. I’m telling you, these things are magic. I use mostly sharpie pens, plus occasional highlighter and posca marker. Sometimes highlighters bleed through very slightly, but other than that, I’ve had no issues. The paper is soft and lovely to write on. I love how it’s slightly off white rather than just white, if that makes sense.Amazon isn’t letting me put pictures on this review for some reason so I’ll just describe what the 2018-2019 journal looks like after daily use for a year. It’s a little scuffed along the outer spine and edges, but it’s held up really well.

This notebook is my very favorite for keeping bullet journals, recipe books, etc. The cover is basically thick cardstock with the outside covered in soft, fake-leather-type material. It's strong enough to protect the pages from getting banged up in my bag, but soft and thin enough that you could put make a traveler's notebook with multiples. It does get a little beat up with light scuff marks but personally I think that just adds to its charm. The paper inside is gorgeous Clairfontaine 90g, which is a lovely off-white and of high quality. This paper is the reason I choose Rhodia notebooks over others. It takes ink nicely from a wide range of pens (I use Tombow Fudes and Dual Tips mostly, but also Sharpie pens, highlighters, Crayola markers, and watercolors from time-to-time) and all do well with only minimal ghosting. The only thing I've used so far that has actually bled through the page was a standard Sharpie permanent marker. No feathering ever, and ink seems to dry relatively quickly. For anyone comparing this to the Rhodia Webnotebook -- the cover is the only difference.

This journal stands up to some serious abuse! I mainly use it for making checklists, mandala inspiration stuff, and color mixing charts for all my various media. As a creature of comfort, I like to bend the journal in half so I only have one page in front of me as I'm painting, drawing, etc and none have ripped out. I also have tons of washi and masking tape throughout which has added quite a bit of extra bulk when closed. I prefer painting on 140lb paper so I've cut some of my "real" watercolor paper down and used masking tape to insert the sheet into my journal. Binding is threaded & glued and I was definitely expecting to see pages come loose... But, nope! The bleed through is essentially nonexistent and I can put at least 2-3 layers of ink/watercolor down before I really see any bleeding through the page. Really, the only time color actually transfers to the next page is when I truly attack the page with my waterbrush.. i.e. lots of blending. There is light ghosting (in bright light) but for the most part only when there's more than one layer of ink or watercolor. Tombow, Staedtler, Papermate Flair, Ecoline, Zig Clean Color (almost every brush pen out there-I have a crazy pen obsession)... All perform really well on this smooth paper. I'm not at all worried about it ruining my nibs. I tried to get a decent picture of the ghosting but it wasn't easy. The dots are evenly spaced and not too dark, as to where they would become a nuisance.Size is perfect and fits nicely in my purse. Makes long car rides entertaining as I get to doodle. Will definitely buy another after this one has run its course.
