Designed for use with the RIDGID line of power drive pipe threading machines, the RIDGID 36890 Alloy Die Head comes with 1/2-inch (12 mm) high-speed dies and a capacity for cutting clean, precise threads in mere seconds. This is the tool you want for quick, efficient pipe threading. The convenient, factory set 12R RIDGID die head is built for longevity and creates an American Standard National Pipe Thread (NPT) seal that is ideal when cutting threads for mechanical, low-pressure air or fluid applications.
The super-efficient OO-R model produces exacting right-hand directional threads on metal pipes that measure up to 1/2-inch (12 mm) NPS, creating clean 14 TPI.

The Ridgid 36890 is a Hand Threader Die Head that handles a Nominal Pipe Size of 1/2-inch. The Die Heads come complete with selected dies which are set at the factory. Die Heads require assembly with supplied dies.

After purchasing a cheap Rachet Pipe Threader Set, I decided to purchase a quality pipe threader 1/2ā die from Rigid along with the Rigid Rachet Pipe Threader Handle. Iām glad that I purchased these quality tools made by Rigid so i can get rid of my cheap set.

First time I've ever threaded black pipe. I ran black pipe to plumb for our air compressor lines in 2 shops. I would go about a 1/4 to a half a turn then reverse to break off the chip and the forward again. Only had one thread to have a problem, there was a little metal chip caught in the threads that caused to the threads that were being cut to have a torn look and it was very hard to cut the threads. Removed the chip and everything worked great again. Use oil. Lots of it. My husband didn't think I could do it. I watched a youtube video by MrPete222 Machine Shop Tips #7.

I had purchased a "cheaply" made die before this and was disappointed when it didn't work for a gas heating project I was doing. I got this die and had no problems threading my pipe. Lesson learned. You get what you pay for.

Gets the job done, fast and easy. It produces nice clean threads. Its a great product. Blades remain sharp after dozens of threading. Excellent brand!!! Will purchase this brand again if I need to.
