Glad I opted to buy and use this when carving. Has already saved me from needing a band aid a couple of times! Very comfortable, flexible, and allows me to still use my thumb. I forget it is there!

I recently started a wood carving class and at times, I'm whittling back towards my thumb. I wanted a little protection for that and this seems perfect. Fits well and doesn't get in the way.

Most people tend to cut things against their thumb. 👍 You shouldn't but, I think almost everyone has! This is great quality leather and my sharpest knife hasn't hit my thumb yet! LOL

Works great, had one that I bought a year before this one and it fell apart constantly but this one is solid also has a place to put your thumb so it won’t fall off

Easy to use, fits my thumb well. Only quibble I have is the fact it is flat and makes it difficult to use the edge of my thumb to get friction while pulling blade toward the thumb. Something rounder would probably work better on thumb. Still, for where on the carving it works, it works well. I have even rubber banded the end to form the end more rounded but it did not help enough.

I do a lot of hand working of hard wood, frequently using rasps and files to get just the right profile. To do this well requires gripping the front end of the tool, which means your thumb and finger tips get grated and, if you do enough of this in a week, raw. This thing prevents that while still allowing a good grip on the tool. It is a big relief! It is easily slipped off when you want to feel something and the loop keeps it close when you need to resume your work.

Although this is a great idea for a product, I was not impressed with this version. I found it to be bulky and it was very tight on my thumb. They only come in one size so you get what you get. This would be ok for people with smaller thumbs but not for me. It is hard to use as directed/needed due to the bulky nature of it. It does not allow for smaller and more accurate carving because you can't get close enough to the material with this guard. It is fancy and comes in a nice cloth bag to protect it but it just does not work like I hoped it would.
