The material is very easy to tie knots in, with high knot strength and a smooth finish that ensures knots seat easily and tightly. The high break strength to diameter ratio makes this a fantastic fluorocarbon for the trout fly fisher. RIO is proud to introduce "half sizes" of core trout diameters, giving anglers an extra choice when faced with the decision to choose between, say 4X and 5X. Our new 6.5X, 5.5X and 4.5X sizes will make those decisions easier. Each spool has 30 yards of top quality material spooled on.

I was on the river and noticed my knots were failing. So, I did some testing at home, and it failed repeatedly. I've been using this Rio for years and just bought it. This is not up to standard Rio Products.

It's very strong tippet. Some of the other brands seem to break much easierthan they should. This is definitely a good quality product.

I can’t tell any difference between this and the Or is stuff I used to use. The price is much cheaper than or is and the performance has been the exact same. I’ll buy more.

I spend part of 120-140 days per year fly fishing for trout, salmon, steelhead & use Rio flurocarbon tippets exclusively for years now. If you snap off a fish on a Rio fluorocarbon tippet, then it was not meant to be...I was snapping off huge 30-35 King Salmon on 0x Rio fluorocarbon a few weeks ago. Nothing you can do with river monsters that size, but a little luck helps in landing them. But, I have to say I snap off very few fish with these tippets & when I do snap something off, its usually exceptionally large. I dry fly with 4x Rio fluoro & my regular nymphing rig has 3x tippet set up. Highly recommended.

I use this tippet rated at 3.8 pounds with a line rated at 4 pounds to assure that, if my lure/bait gets stuck, I only lose the tippet. It does that perfectly and is invisible to the fish and darn near invisible to me. I'm 83 years old and still enjoy the sport of fishing.
