I decided to try this out after seeing an ad for it. I went up on a fly fishing trip the past weekend and had the opportunity to test this out.First, I think the video I had seen on how to work this thing had the rod magnet facing up (i.e., opposite of the guides). I tried this and quickly found that it didn't work because if my line got wrapped around it, it was annoying to unwrap, so I swapped it to the bottom, which worked much better. Rarely, when casting the line would catch on it, but it was usually a quick and easy twist of the rod to undo it.What I like:-It is very quick and convenient to attach the rod to. When in camp, I hung up my vest on my canopy, and then attached the rod. It kept the rod elevated and prevented it from falling down or get dirty.-Attaching the rod magnet was easy. Also, nice that you can get more to have on multiple rods (I do wish they had a spare so you could do 2 rods - or have a multi-rod package)What can be improved:-The magnet attachment on the carabiner need a bit more play so that can easily. It slides on the carabiner, but can't easily move except in the perpendicular direction of the carabiner. I wonder if this would be better if the magnet was on a short one or two link chain. This would make rod attachment easier (I suppose there is more risk that it could attach to some metal on your vest).-The line still catches some time on the rod attachment. It would be nice there was some way to smooth the edges so that the lines slide off easier.Overall, I'm pleased with this and will probably get some more magnets to attach to other rods

I was excited to use this until I did. The idea is great, but the magnet attached to the carabiner needs to swivel. I was using a 3wt euro rod and the magnet’s hold broke every time the rod moved. Save your $ and look elsewhere.

I am a fly fisherman and this rod roost in genius. When I need to change the set up on my pole it holds my rod secure on my fishing vest. I can use both hands to tie in a fly. It really is helpful.

I have had a few different things to help me hold my rod. Some of them work. None of them work well. This is simple, extremely lightweight, totally functional, and simply genius and is an instant favorite. I ended up tossing the s-biner and put the magnet on a piece of paracord hanging from my kit with a knot at the end and I couldn’t be happier. Simple and effective.

So I've been flyfishing for 35+ years and have tried just about every fishing gadget available. Of everything I've purchased, I'd say this is definitely one of my top favorites!I can't tell you how many times I've dropped my rod/reel in the water because I'm 10' out in the river landing a fish and then trying to hold the net, unhook the fly and release the fish while awkwardly tucking the rod under my arm and then dropping it!I was skeptical of this rod roost but I tried it and absolutely love it! It doesn't add any noticeable weight or effect my casting in any way. It also doesn't scratch the rod at all. But what it DOES do is make it way easier to use both hands for tying on flies, unhooking fish, and snapping that selfie of a monster fish. The magnet is SUPER strong and has held the connection for me every time.Great product TalwegCo! I would recommend this to everyone.

I was a little skeptical at first when buying the rod holder thinking that it wasn’t gonna be strong enough to hold my 5/6 9’ rod, but while in the White river in Arkansas on my last trip It held on strong. I had several people ask about it and wanted to see and know where to get it. I showed them what a great product it was. I highly recommend this product.

I’m new to the sport and the rod roost helps when I need an extra hand! I had a minor issue and contacted support and they responded within the hour and resolved the issue. Highly recommend!
