Many you tube video was wrong they do not know what they are talking about. First you have to take a look at the "1/8 OUTPUT LACK" of your mic.(1) If your mic output jack is: 3 parts with TWO black lines (aka TRS), then you need this cable to convert your mic TRS output to TRRS. Connect this cable one side to your TRS mic, the other side to the TRRS-Lighning cable to your iPhone. (You need two adapter cables)(2) If your mic output jack is: 4 parts with THREE black lines (aka TRRS), connect your mic output to the TRRS-Lighning cable to your iPhone. (You need one adapter cable).

I bought this to record better audio from my DJ Mixer than just placing the phone nearby and recording with the internal audio. This works with my Xone 23 mixer and SGS9 phone. For some reason, probably a setting on the phone, I can't use the record out output from my mixer, my phone pops up with an annoying message saying 'Complete action using' and gives me the choice of pressing 'Just once' or 'Always' with Chrome or Bixby Voice. I have to use the monitor out output on the back of the mixer connected to the SC4 and then into my phone and it works fine. It doesn't seem to matter whether I have the SC4 cable connected to my phone first or not. Audio is much better then what you could pick up from just the phone.

I purchased this item to utilize a boom microphone with an Android phone during live streams on YouTube. The adapter is made with solid rubber coating and quality materials. A very easy plug and play adapter.I now have the ability to utilize a boom microphone with my smartphone which has made a big difference in sound quality for our live streams.I have had this product for quite some time now and it still works great.I would definitely recommend the SC4 due to the fact that is made with high quality materials and it has performed well every time I have used it.- Dad's Den Reviews "Work Smarter, Not Harder"

Wow, this is great! I have a laptop that has the combo Line-In/Microphone input. It only wants to record though on the Microphone channel. I have an E-Drum set and it has a headphone jack for output. It wants to output on the left/right channels but not the microphone channel. I had bought a 4 band cable and while the laptop saw that a microphone was plugged in, no sound really came through. My iPod on the other hand worked great in this setup, sending to the laptop. Conversely, the iPod did NOT see that a microphone was plugged in using this 4 band cable so it wouldn't record either.I stumbled upon this adapter and bingo. Everything simply works! I take my normal stereo 3 band cable, plug it into my E-Drums headphone jack, then attach this adapter. My laptop now records the audio via the Microphone channel and my iPod Touch does as well. Simply brilliant.

When I first purchased this product, I bought it to go in my desk in the living room. I have a bamboo shelf and bamboo office organizer. This charging station fit with that décor perfectly. It would keep all the products charged neatly. But I could not use it on that desk because it is the public desk my children use.The product is sturdy. The product does charge multiple products at a time. It is very organized. However, it can’t charge my children’s products because my children’s phones and tablets are covered with protective cases like OtterBox.This stand will fit some of the models out there. We are a techie family so it will fit five of my devices and an Apple Watch or FitBit. I do love this product….for me. I have supplied photos showing a iPad 3 in a plain red case, an iPad Air2 in a white ZAGG keyboard case, and a Kindle Fire without case. No phones are pictured because I am using mine for the photo and my children’s will not fit. If you look close enough, you can see that red case is a thin cardboard like material covered in vinyl. It even has wear on the end. It’s not a hard shell. There is no keyboard on that case. If I drop it, I am out of luck. If I am in a hurry, I can lay it over 2 slots and if I pay close attention, I can squeeze it in that slot just right. But, it does take focusing. Is it necessary to remain in a case in order to charge it? It really isn’t. But, part of being organized is making things convenient. If I had left this charging unit on the desk it was originally purchased for, my kids would have used the ports in front of it and stuffed paper in the slots in back. This would have been my new mail organizer/phone charger.

Until I bought a VideoMic Pro, I didn't know phones, tablets, and some PCs require TRRS pinned Mic inputs. And, that most most Mics are TRS. TRRS is a 3-striped pin vs. TRS which has 2-strips. TRRS does both headphones & Mic. TRS is just Mic. This isn't super well documented. I paid a ridiculous price a 2" piece of wire, it works, but it's very flimsy. If anyone knows of a cheaper, more reliable TRS-TRRS adapter, please leave a comment. What I also learned after trail & error is, Samsung beats the pants off iPhone on Mic inputs. I have/use both phones... When I plug the VideoMic Pro into the Samsung Note 5, it works great w/zero gain. To get it to work on the iPhone, I have to set the Mic on +20gain. I have an (non-battery powered) Olympus clip on Mic that won't even work on iPhone, it barely sees a waveform. I works fine on the Note 6 with this adapter. My thinking is if need a Mic away from the Video camera (e.g. GoPro or GH4), I can use the Samsung as a remote Mic, and bring the sound into a multicam clip.I'm taking off 1-star because this thing is so cheap for the price, I'm afraid it'll break. Either make the cable thicker or just make it a solid elbow connector. At the risk of being repetitive, If anyone knows of a cheaper, more reliable TRS-TRRS adapter, please leave a comment.
