My son is on the taller side and lean. These are great swim trunks with an elastic band to fit his small waist, and they look like board shorts. They’re very vibrant and probably our favorite pair of swim trunks.

Finally a pair of swim trunks that aren’t incredibly short or huge on the waist. They fit our slim athletic built 11 year old well. We did size down to an 8 as the waist was too large in 10-12.

For people with kids to help with sizing: My son turned 4 recently, he is quite tall (90th% on chart) so he wears a size 5. I ordered him the Small. They tie well enough to fit his slim waste. I'd say if your kid is average ht and is 4yrs old get the XS. If he is between 5-6 in size I'd go to the Small. The colors look great, quality is great, it was a good purchase.
