we sorta didn't like having to use this on our previously painted brick fireplace surround, but it worked. using it means losing the ability to wipe back (rinse off) limewash to distress.don't waste your money getting special masonry brushes on brick. simple paint brushes will work, with a 2" or smaller to get into chinking.

Though this is called primer, it is more of a surface preparation. This was applied on a variety of surfaces (shiplap, skimcoated sheetrock & Dennshield) throughout the kitchen and bathroom. Any markings on the surface to be applied should get a more standard primer like Kilz first to cover up markings. If you try to primer markings after you will flatten out the micro-aggregate that appears after drying. The product is bulk packaged and a adhesive label sloppily stuck on with tiny micro printing (think magnifying glass) that is often rubbed off in places. This product has to be diluted with water and you have to make sure you carefully online search your exact product when you go to find out that ratio. Once you dilute it you YOU NEED TO KNOW that the product is going to look basically LIKE 2% MILK- thin, pale white & watery. I wasted so much concentrate trying to get it to thicken up. I had to order another liter. Nowhere in the literature or anywhere with those “helpful” tutorials online did anyone mention this.It can dribble easily so take your time to cover up surfaces. With a diluted product like this you really need good lighting to tell which areas have been wetted by roller/brush. A little goes a long way and it’s very easy to run out your dilution mix by over applying because you can’t see anything happening. It will dry over hours and you will feel the micro-aggregate magically appear on the surface. You really cannot save any leftover in the bucket- even by putting it in the fridge (clumps into flakes- you’ll be sorry). While I really like the look of this product I feel the company fails in its packaging with those homemade looking sticky labels and lack of clear IKEA-like illustrations for dilution ratios. As well, online they could make it plain how the “primer” will look upon mixing. I think this product has struggled to become a popular option due to this making it hard/not step by step clearly explaining the process. Hope this helps others.
