I lost the original tipper that came with my entry-level bodhran I received as a gift years back. Joined a folk band and I immediately had a use for the drum again. Needed a new tipper and this one works just fine. Hopefully I won't lose this one!

Just getting to play my drum with this beater and so far it works fine. It is balanced well, smooth on the ends and a little less so in the middle which provides better grip. There are many different types and styles of Bodhran beaters and this a very common one for all levels. Well made of Rosewood, it should hold up as long as I do. LOL

This has a nice heft to it and I like the way it feels. But, I took it to lessons at Irish week in Bethesda, MD and the bodhran teacher said it was junk and I should throw it away! The problem with it is that it is too heavy and has too much weight in the ends. He recommends straight sticks with no knobs on the ends. After trying this and a straight tipper that I borrowed, I can see why - the momentum involved in moving those weighted ends back and forth really slows you down and it is more work. The only argument I could make for these and similar tippers after my experience in class is that they are louder.The Roosebeck slim tipper available on Amazon is no doubt better but the diameter of the stick still looks too thick compared to the tippers that the experienced bodhran players in Bethesda were using. The thin tippers made by Hedwitschak look the right size but are not available yet on Amazon.

I like the finish, weight, and feel of this tipper. It is easy to hold and use. Also appealing in appearance. Price was reasonable and shipping fast. I found that this tipper made it easier for me to learn how to play.

Well balanced, nice feel, good length. It IS a little heavy, so beware of that before you buy it. I'm a fiddle player who dabbles in Bodhran (in the privacy of my own home, so no worries...I'm not out destroying sessions with my bohdran), but of the three tippers I've tried, this is my favorite.

I'm new to the bodhran - been playing for a few months. I've used 2 different tippers (not including the wretched tipper that came with my drum - I chucked that one...) and decided I wanted to add another to my collection. This tipper is slightly longer (about 1/2 inch) than my favorite tipper (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AYXL70/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_hst_3) and is not quite as heavy. It doesn't quite give the bang of the off-center groove tipper, which is a good thing for some rhythms. The added length makes playing triplets a bit easier. Definitely worth the purchase. This is definitely a close second in regard to favorites of mine. If you're considering this tipper, definitely get it. You won't regret it!
