This cultivator is no wimpy little tool. It has all the quality and materials to make this tool last a lifetime. You will want to note that in the instructions, a part named "long screw" is shown with a picture of a long black screw; however, the long screws in my box were long screws but silver in color just like the short screws. Other than that little item, it went together very easily. Attached to this review is a photo for reference [I took it before I took it for a test drive because I didn't want to send along a muddy photo]. Very pleased with this tool, and I am now anxious to start my spring yard work. If you've been thinking about getting a cultivator, this would be one to consider. It even came with a bungee cord for hanging it up in the tool shed.

This tool is a keeper. It is a bit of a workout to use, so consider avoiding if you lack upper body strength. I found the best results with short motions of 12 to 18 in, leaning into it with body weight. It prepared my clay soil nicely. The marketing info on Amazon suggests you can add a cinder block for more weight. I didn't try that, but I'm imagining that'll take quite a bit of effort if your soil is compacted. I'm fit, male, and in my early 60s. It is a bit taxing for me. That said, this tool is a better option then one of the electric versions out there. This is a lifetime tool. The electric ones will end up in the landfill by the tens of thousands. I'll end up in the landfill before this tool does. So, there are some things that could be improved. There could be directions on how to use the tool. There are none except the assembly instructions. It may be I'm using it incorrectly, and that's why it takes so much effort. I can't tell. I wish the height of the weed cutting blade was adjustable. It can cut too deep when the soil surface is uneven. The option to remove the blade entirely would be nice -- for those times you want a light cultivation of the soil surface, as you do when creating a stale seed bed for weed control. Last, the exceptionally long handle comes in three pieces that thread together. They tend to loosen and start to turn while you're working. At the very least, some thread lock is necessary. Better, pins would lock the handle pieces in place. These few annoyances earn a one-star deduction, but I'll definitely use this tool often.
