The most popular Roundwound bass string ever. Rotosound was the first string company to produce this kind of string. Introduced in 1962 it changed the sound of the instrument instantly. The favourite string of many players including Billy Sheehan, John Paul Jones and Geddy Lee. Available in all popular gauges and scale lengths. The steel used to produce these strings is unique, combined with a highly secretive manufacturing process.

Taper was way too long to fit on my bass.

These are all kinds of awesome! I mixed one in from another set to string my 5 string in G0, which works, although my electronic tuner won't go there. That 175 is huge, and low G has a rumble to it that is hard to describe. These work as advertised, for drop tuning, and even lower.

Great strings just mislabeled for application. Got these for a mim fender jazz bass to drop tune in G. The tapers don’t fit. Other than that I’m sure they work for other basses. I went with dadarrio .170.

For low tuning the strings are good and keep tension which helps them from going out of tune. Downside the strings are grippy so for sliding not idea. Overall for drop tuning it will do what you need.

the 175 string is the thickest I’ve ever played. It’s perfect, I just had to push and turn a little bit trough the bridge hole, like a screw. for real my bass felt like a virgin lol anyway this is what I was looking for my drop F tuning. good tension, bright tone. no more spaghetti

Much cheaper than Kalium. Can downtune to an octave below standard tuning up to G# standard below standard, but F# standard will have the best tension.Sad it only comes in a 4-string version, but you can order a regular Swing Bass set and use the D and G string from that if you need.F# string when played above the 11th fret produces a bunch of really ugly odd overtones and a rattling sound from the insides but it's not noticeable below that point, and you probably won't be playing it around that point in the fingerboard anyway. No such problem exists with the rest of the strings.

At first look I have to admit I was a little wary - the huge 0.175 string has multiple layers of winding and doesn't reach full guage until an inch or so after the bridge saddles (on my top loading bridge - would be different on a string through body design) but decided to make the necessary mods to the nut slots and bridge (the bottom string is so large that the bridge needed drilling out to fit it, although that was to be expected) and then try out the end result. The clarity on the low notes is awesome! Tuned to f# the bottom string actually feels tight and punchy to play and equally importantly produces a thunderous fundamental with some nice and very controllable upper partials. Used with an additional Rotosound 0.65 for the top (D) string this set has breathed new life into my old 5 string bass. This is the second bass I have with a low F# (the other is an 8 string used mainly for solo work) and I am seriously considering another set if I can get balanced singles to make up the top 4 strings. It's a leap of faith to fit them as once you re slot the nut and bridge there isn't really any going back, but for seriously low tunings they perform above and beyond expectations.
