I've been using the same gel top seat cushion for years on my semi-recumbent bike, which has a seat shaped like a rowing machine, so I use a cushion made for a rowing machine. When I saw the Home & Rowe Rowing Machine Seat Cushion, I thought I'd give a different cushion a try and ordered it.It seems well made with no loose threads, sharp or weird edges or any issues. has a rubber smell - no surprise there - that seemed to fade fairly rapidly. It is a little shorter from front to back than the cushion I have been using, but that didn't affect me either way. It stuck to the machine's own seat very well, which I liked. And here is where we get to personal anatomy and preference. For me, I found this seat cushion quite firm, and it caused pain in my hip joints, which I have experienced when riding a bike - firmer seats and I do not get along. But here's the thing - lots of people I know rode bikes with the same firmer seats that caused me discomfort and felt the seats were comfortable and supportive. So if you're a person who likes firmer seats on your rower or use a cushion for a rower on a semi-recumbent or recumbent bike with the same shape seat as a rower, this cushion may be just what you're looking for. It's firm but not hard, so I'd consider it supportive, and the current price seems like a good value, although I received this cushion from Amazon in exchange for a review. Amazon does not ask that the reviews be positive at all, just that we are honest and describe our experiences. As far as ratings go, the cushion description and images are accurate, with one exception. They say "Enhanced Comfort & Support – Designed for rowers who demand extra cushioning", and I don't find it to have extra cushioning at all, so I'm removing a star. Otherwise, price and quality seem good. I just don't recommend this for those like me who prefer a softer cushion.

When I first started rowing three years ago, I would see other people using rowing seat cushions or laying a towel down on the erg seat, and I would think to myself, “I wonder what that is about?” Now I have become one of those people needing a little padding as I have apparently rowed away much of my own natural padding. I’ve been getting by with a seat towel for the last year or so, but I was definitely "rowing cushion curious.”The Home & Rowe rowing seat cushion is now a part of my daily training routine. The size of the cushion is perfectly compatible with my Concept 2 Rower. This cushion has a nice looking carbon hue, it is soft, and very well constructed. It is ready to use right out of the box, you just place it on top of the seat. With the no-slip texture on the bottom this rowing cushion really does not move at all. The 2-inch tall thickness of the cushion is not bulky and the additional height does not affect my stroke, form, or seat positioning. I adapted to this accessory immediately. I feel as though my weight is distributed more evenly and there is relief from the usual tailbone pressure during long distance rows. It’s really nice to have the edges cushioned as well. Suddenly erging is a lot more comfortable. The rowing cushion is easy to clean, just pick it up and wipe it off. Home & Rowe also included a travel case for the rowing cushion if you need to transport to training or the water. The price point of the seat cushion is excellent. Highly recommend!

In terms of first impressions, I was a bit disappointed as the product page stated that it is compatible with the concept2 rower. When I looked at the picture and my rower seat, I was like...hmmm...kinda close, so maybe. When I got it though, I was like...huh?In reality, it is simply a small cushion for a small seat. It would be like me saying my foot is compatible with your mouth. Yeah, it would probably fit, but would you say it is compatible? In this case, the seat cushion sits on the rower seat, and it hangs off about half an inch on both sides. The design of the cushion does not match the design of the rower seat. Now, with all that said, does it work? Yes, yes it does. I was a bit worried at first that there were no straps, but so far I have not had any issues with slipping. I've only encountered a small problem with the cushion being slightly wider than the seat, so it kinda wobbles a little bit if I'm trying to push my row. It isn't, "This is horrible, throw it away," bad, but it is noticeable, especially if you are concerned that there are no straps and it may slip.In terms of comfort, it is very comfortable. It reminds me of those plushy seat cushions for bikes, so it is meant to keep the tush happy over long periods of time. I had got this to replace another vine cushion that was like 3 inches of padding and no comfort. As such, I kept this cushion and threw out the old one.
