Jeep moved the exhaust forward on the 2012 Wrangler. Unfortunately, on Jeeps with 2.5 or more of lift that means their front driveshaft is liable to make contact with the exhaust Y-Pipe melting the CV boot and causing the driveshaft to fail prematurely. The Rugged Ridge Exhaust Spacer Kit for 3.6L Wrangler helps move the Y-pipe further back and increases the amount of front suspension travel from 2.5 to over 5.5, thus saving your driveshaft. The spacers install on the flanges between the front headers and Y-pipe.. The great thing is the kit is easy to install and does not require permanent modification to the exhaust. Hardware included.

These spacers are very straight forward and work as designed. However use caution and plan accordingly when you perform the installation. 3 out of 4 of my exhaust bolts broke and it was 2 late nights of drilling them out.

Installed on my 2012 Wrangler JK with a new 4" suspension lift. Each end has a nice curved inner and outer surface that lets them to seal to the existing fittings even if not perfectly straight. On mine I had to tighten, loosen, adjust, repeat; several times to get the angles as close to matching as possible. Couldn't get them perfectly straight, but these extensions still sealed up well to the stock pipes and I have no exhaust leaks. Thumbs up. You have to loosen your stock y-pipe (difficult to get to, soak with lots of penetrating oil) and shorten the catalytic converter pipe to make room for your muffler to go back in. I have a aftermarket dual exhaust muffler and had to also cut 1" off the end of the pipe to get my muffler to fit back up in front of my trailer hitch. I just used a sawsall. Not difficult, just an extra step if your muffler doesn't fit after installing these extensions. Overall I'm very happy with the product and the install.

Perfect fit! Easy as can be to install as far as exhaust work is concerned. Three weeks and one thousand kilometres later, no leaks and no squeaking while off road crawling. Thanks Rugged Ridge for building quality products, it’s something hard to find these days.

They do the job, the instructions were simple but the execution required a lot of elbow grease and penetrating oil even on a newer jk. The nuts on the clamps are welded to the clamps but no mention of it anywhere, spent longer than I'd care to admit trying to unbolt from the side of the nut instead of the bolt head. But that might just be my inexperience.

Cheap, just keep this in mind. 1. THROW AWAY THE TWO LONGER BOLTS. They're too long. Use the shorter 80mm ones on the passenger side and get some 70mm bolts for the driver side and you'll be good to go. Unbolting the y pipe and grinding down that nub to let the exhaust slide in further is a B too.

Excellent exhaust spacer kit. Installed on my 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon as I'm running a 2.75" lift with coil spacers and the driveshaft was going to be too close for comfort on the exhaust. The included instructions are decent but I suggest watching the Teraflex Exhaust Spacer install video for help. They do a great job laying out the whole install. Remember that there are two different sized spacers and one goes on one side and one on the other. ALSO there are two different sized bolts and that go their respective spacers. As for removing the existing bolts in the exhaust, BE SURE to soak them in PB Blaster or some kind of penetrating oil before starting your install. I soaked mine and still broke off an exhaust bolt which took 4-5 hours of messing with, cutting and drilling to remove. A huge headache but that was just my jeep and won't happen to everyone, and of course had nothing to do with this kit.Overall a great kit, well priced, and relatively easy to install.

In the end, this product does what it is supposed to do, but there are issues with the product and installing it. First and foremost, the spacers themselves are good quality stainless steel construction that seal completely and do not leak once you get them in and tightened up. They move the exhaust crossover to the rear by about an inch and a half, and lower it down about 3/4 inch. The net effect is to allow the driveshaft to drop down to the point that it is limited by the stock constant velocity joint boot before the driveshaft ever touches the exhaust. So, the product does what it is intended to do.The bolts that are supplied with it are not threaded far enough down their length to tighten up the exhaust connections, I had to cut an additional 1/4 inch of threads on the right side bolts to get the spacer to tighten up and seal right. If you don't have a tap and die set, you'll have to buy replacement bolts, or stack 3 or 4 washers on the heads of the supplied ones. Don't see any reason the included bolts are only threaded for 1/3 of their length. The instructions say to slide the Y pipe further into the tailpipe to install the spacer; however, there is no room in the expanded section of the tailpipe to do this. I had to cut about 1 inch off the back of the Y pipe to give it enough room to slide far enough into the tailpipe.Overall, a useful product at a great price point that is not all that well thought out.

Trust me when I say this, this kit is not a simple install. I had multiple issues getting this installed on my 2015 JKU... 1) The tab on the y pipe is almost impossible to get off without an air hammer, so if you don't have access to one, get one before you even attempt the install! 2) You will absolutely have to cut some length off the Y pipe on the side at the flange because it is already fully inserted as far as it can go into the female part. To do this, you will have to completely remove the Y pipe from your jeep and cut off approx. 1 1/4 inches. Note: the skid plate cross member must be removed in order to get it off. 3) It is extremely difficult to get the spacers straight at the connection point. But with a little doing, it can be done. I suggest getting the drivers side straight first, then the passenger side (there is more room on the passenger side to do the manhandling needed). 4). Just like others have said, the passenger side bolts are too long! The threads on the bolts provided bottom out about 3/8 of an inch too soon. Plan on either getting different bolts or use washers on the head side to space it out. 5) Remember the skid plate cross member you removed in order to get the y pipe off? Now the exhaust ever so slightly touches it where the passenger side y comes across to meet the driver side y. To fix this you will need to put in two stacked washers between the crossmember and the frame then tighten down the bolt.Overall the kit does do what its supposed to do and the instructions are pretty good. However, since the bolts on the passenger side are not the right size, I would say the kit is flawed because it does not provide the minimum hardware necessary to do the job. Unfortunately, if you are thinking of or have a 2.5" or higher lift, you have to buy this kit - So good luck!
