We have a Camaro and a 2-door Jeep Wrangler, so there is almost NOWHERE to store more than an individual suitcase when we go on family trips. The design of this rooftop cargo solution makes it perfect for the Jeep (which has a roof rack) and the Camara (which obviously does not have a roof rack). It collapses down to about half the size of a backpack so it doesn't take up any space when not in use. It can fit all of the luggage required by our family of three, and includes a protective mat to help prevent scratches on your roof. Best of all, this saves us from having to rent a car when we go on vacation, so it's a huge win for us.

This is my 3rd rooftop carrier and I am very pleased with it. The zippers feel heavy duty, the fabric is high quality and has kept everything dry and protected. The seams and straps are sewn well and very secure. It was easy to set up and install. It installs securely, and feels safe to drive around with. I tested it over a few days by installing it, and recreating conditions I'd travel under. I put clothing items inside storing some ziplocked in plastic and leaving some open to the elements inside the bag, and included some water soluble packing peanuts just to see how dry everything would be. The weather cooperated by providing me with some light rain and wind off and on. While at home for any extended length I parked under a leaky carport (similar coverage to what I'd encounter camping in the mountains with trees everywhere) but for errands the pack was exposed to light rain, snow, and wind sporadically over a few days. On the third night we had a little snow dusting, and I'd forgotten to park under the carport. This bag held up to the weather like a champion, everything stayed dry and in perfect condition! It drove well in town, on bumpy back roads, and on the freeway. No bouncing or sliding issues. It is a lot more storage space than it looks like, I was impressed with how much it held. I chronically over-pack for everything because I like to be prepared, and this storage bag is a huge help for the conflict that arises with my spouse, a minimalist. My over-packing chaos is out of his way, and I have all the extra socks and rope and spare blankets/tarps/towels my little heart desires. I highly highly recommend this storage carrier, and plan to purchase one in the future for a buddy who has an old one falling apart at the seams. Compared to the 2 others I've owned this is a true gem and a ridiculously good value for the price. The quality is exceptional. It even looks good on my car. Easy 5 stars.

Easy to connect to my luggage rack and pack. I have not used it in the rain but it looks like it would keep the contents dry. Like all of these covers, It is a little clumsy to unpack loose items so think ahead and package your items so they don't shift around and fall off the roof.... again, this applies to all roof top carriers

I haven't gotten to travel with this yet but I did put some things in it to store temporarily outside. Since then we have had snow, ice, about 10 inches of rain and some serious wind. Took everything out tonight. There was a little water on the inside (drops, not puddles.) I suspect that it is from water blowing up under the zipper covering flat or splashing off the concrete it was sitting on. Attached to a car with the zipper at the back both of these potential issues should be resolved by the movement of the car and the lack of water splashing up off a surface. All in all I'm pleased and think when I do need to travel this should definitely keep my gear weatherproof.

I got this around Christmastime when it was quite a bit less expensive than the $110 it's advertised for now but I think it's still worth the price. It's well made of sturdy material and the seams are sewn with pretty heavy-duty synthetic thread. I got it to use on my ancient Buick station wagon that has a roof rack, but the clever hold-down strap design integrates door hooks if you don't have a rack on your car. Despite having a 21 cubic foot capacity, it collapses down to a pretty compact formfactor and comes with a nylon storage bag (see first pic). The cargo carrier did a perfect job of keeping everything bone dry when I took my daughter back to college in a rainstorm after the holidays. A thoughtful inclusion is the circumferential flap completely enclosing the zipper to help keep water out. There is a rubberized anti-slide mat for cars without luggage racks to keep the carrier from scratching up the roof or sliding around (3rd pic). I don't need this for my wagon so i couldn't test it, but it seems grippy and substantial, so I have no reason to think it won't work well. When properly installed, with all the straps in place, the carrier is also pretty wind-resistant. I did not hear it flapping around at all while driving 70+ MPH on the highway for several hours. They include a small combination lock, but it's mostly for appearances. You could cut the shackle with wire nippers pretty easily and anyone motivated at all to get in there will just slice it open, but the lock is useful for keeping the zipper tabs secured to each other so it doesn't accidentally open at speed for an unscheduled rapid distribution of your cargo about the highway. When not in use, it fits perfectly in the side storage compartment back in the tailgunner seat of my wagon.
