SAM Single Acting Hydraulic Cylinders for Western Snow Plows - Replaces OEM Part# 56538K, Model# 1304201

This is a perfect fit and seems as powerful as the original Western cylinders. Let's hope this one lasts as long as the original.Not sure how to do this review, but this order was a very special one. Please allow me to explain:I was in the process of trying to replace leaking cylinders, as my Western plow suddenly stopped working correctly. There was a small amount of oil leaking from the ends of all 3 cylinders, so that was my starting point. Also, my workshop for this project was my driveway, which is completely exposed and in one of the coldest and windiest parts of the lower 48.I started off ordering the angling cylinders as, at this time, the plow would still lift and angle, but the angling cylinders wouldn't keep the position. The next day I ordered a new lift cylinder, just to be on the safe side. Could not remember which model of plow I had and, getting confused on the Western website, I ended up ordering the wrong lift cylinder. All of the cylinders sat here for nearly 3 weeks waiting for temps to get above 0°F and for the winds to calm down. It finally happened - a warm front came in that brought temps above freezing and with almost no wind. I go out and install the angling cylinders, then I discover my error on the other. So I rush inside and find this cylinder on Amazon, being sold by Rigid Hitch Inc. The order was placed at 4:59pm CT on a Thursday, so I was certain the cylinder wouldn't get to us until the following Monday. That evening, there was a notification from UPS saying that they were delivering a package the next day. Oh?? But this was Amazon Prime -- you know, "2-DAY" shipping! Next morning, another email from UPS stating that yes, they would be delivering that day.Well, it arrived just as they said. I placed the order at 4:59pm CT, from a place also located in the same time zone; a place that closes at 5pm, and with 2-day shipping from Amazon. Yet this cylinder was i-n m-y h-a-n-d-s about 21 hours later!! WOW!! So I owe a VERY special thanks to:1) Rigid Hitch Inc. - for selling on Amazon, having Prime deals, and mostly for getting the part out so quickly(!!)2) Amazon - for having a great sales outlet3) and to UPS - for getting the cylinder there the next day rather than what would have been 3 days later(!!)THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!...Now for the kicker - changing all the cylinders didn't make a difference. The motor would run but nothing would happen. The plow was still working before changing out the cylinders and oil, but suddenly now would not do anything. So I researched and called and spent 3 hours trying to figure this out. Ended up ordering a pump rebuild kit from a local company (120 miles away) and had that over-nighted (on a Friday, which meant it came on Monday). It arrived, but there's a rubber band literally melted to and into the pump!! However, just before the parts arrived, I was able to get the motor/reservoir unit off the plow, drained, opened and inspected. That's when I made a startling discovery. There is a metal clip that's supposed to hold the suction filter in place. THIS RETAINER CLIP WAS MISSING! There it was - my suction filter sitting on the bottom of the reservoir. No wonder the motor would run but nothing would happen! Here I had used the plow fairly heavy for several years without incident. So if you have a similar problem, replace the cylinders if they're leaking, but don't order that $200-$300 pump rebuild kit until you open things up and see if the retaining clip is there!Happy Plowing!!
