This device offers a great asset for making small quantities of sausage

In hindsight, I wished I had purchased an all stainless steel version of this product. The casings don't like plastic and it is more difficult to clean and less durable than stainless steel. Moreover, the stainless steel models are pretty comparable in price...which is odd. This device maybe holds 1 1/2 pounds of meat. It lacks a device to remove air or a device to remove meat from the nozzle. The gun uses friction, rather than teeth...teeth ratcheting is far superior to friction. However, I had few issues with the friction and my only issue is that a teeth ratchet system gives you a measured amount of force and product dispersed with a hand pump while friction is less predictable and consistent. With sausage making, consistency matters. The company didn't give a wide array of stuffing nozzles and there wasn't any helpful tips or information privided. They pretty much expect you to know how a sausage stuffer and caulking gun works so you can apply that knowledge to this device. All in all, for the price, and as little as I make stuffed sausages, this one is a great entry item to get started. Again, I strongly encourage buyers to consider all stainless steel options rather than settling on this plastuc model. If you do buy this, always presoak your natural casings in baking soda water to keep it lubricated on the horn and wet the horn well with the same baking soda water before adding wet casings onto the horn.
