I like to place the iron down flat, and the iron rest pads do the job. They are effective, and make ironing a bit easier.

Handy, don't have to worry about iron tipping over. Still gets hot on the ironing board it but no scorching, etc

2 for good price in this item package so I will give one to my mom. I don't set iron down flat on it. But I'm sure it is heat resistant enough to do that for short term. Size is good for my inexpensive Black & Decker steam iron.

I have a few irons as I am a quilt maker/quilter. I bought an Oliso iron a few years ago and if you know anything about them they are made with lifts that when you sit it plate down it lifts. My fear is that I will forget that I'm not using the Oliso on my other iron, so having these give me a little peace of mind. So far they've been great. Sure they get hot, but not hot enough that I worry about damage to my ironing board surface.
