I have to say that I’m pleasantly surprised with this bass. I have very low expectations with anything from China. Bass arrived in a timely manner but NO BAG. Action is good, sounds full and clear with no dead spots. I haven’t plugged it in yet but will later today I’ll try it at sound check. The tuner matches perfectly with my snark. I bought a left handed fretless. No bag! I gig constantly so this is a huge bummer. It is advertised as chromacast pro series bag included. Didn’t happen. The seller responded quickly to say he’ll refund me the price of the bag. ‘I’ just have to find one. Still working on that.Update: The seller refunded me the price of the gig bag and I have it ordered. This is a bummer but they made it right in a timely fashion so I’m going to upgrade my star rating. I don’t think it was their fault as it was shipped directly from Sawtooth, so I was told.

First off, this bass is as beautiful as depicted. The hand rubbed finish is rich though I might worry about scratches. The tone very nice and full, comfortable neck action.OK... now...The very first thing I had to do was adjust the truss rod.. the strings were laying flat on the neck (Buzz City) not a big deal but I've bought close to a dozen basses over the years from a couple hundred to several hundred $ each and Never had to do this before. Next up was to change the strings to Rotosound Black Nylon Flatwounds to augment the fretless tone and protect the fretless neck from hard steel. I literally had to take a large push-pin to dig out the stock strings from the bridge, hooking into the bottom of the strings and using the bridge as leverage.. they were stuck inside. Maybe after a few string changes things will 'loosen up"? Next: while the tuning pegs are nicely finished in a complementary color, they aren't as responsive as I would have expected.. a littl slack before action, but once there it holds a tuning fine. The 'on-board' tuner is a nice thought, matches my SNARK in a comparison test, however, unlike the SNARK it does not turn itself off after a few minutes of not using it.. battery drain (3x in as many months) if you forget or bump the button while putting it in the gig bag... maybe they should change to a switch instead of a button. Which brings up the supplied Chromacast Gig Bag.. it seems high quality, nicely padded with plenty of pockets but as the photo shows it is oversized for this bass, easily by 3-4 inches in width, a sloppy fit, which seems strange because it has a Rudy Sarzo signature embossed on it (He helped design the bass, you'd think his gig bag would be a proper fit) I guess someday I'll take it shopping for a properly fitted bag (extra $). Lastly, while the 'bass clef' sound holes are a nice touch there is uneven staining along the inside edges, some edges stained, some raw... not a big deal, I can take a Q-tip and run some stain, but it's a lack of attention to detail on what is otherwise a beautiful (and expensive) bass. Finally, The 'TIP".As of this date, 6/22/22, Amazon offers this at $1,101.42. When I first looked at it in early Jan 22 it was listed at well over $900.00 I couldn't justify ordering it, I looked at it more than a few times in the following weeks, then Amazon notified me that it was temporarily offering it 'on sale' @ $685.66 so I scooped it up. That's a more reasonable price and as such I'm glad I got it.I hope this review helps and I hope SAWTOOTH & Rudy read it to consider corrections. Anyone have suggestions for a replacement gig bag? :-)

The ups man kindly dropped off this bass around 5, and I haven’t put it down since. The sound on my fretless is downright spectacular. It’s gives you plenty of sound and does not sound “thin” at all, rather it gives you that E you always wanted. I could hear a bit of the “breaking bad” theme when I decided to get funky - which you can on this cat-axe. It’s downright sexy. One thing I especially liked was that the big sound and how it surrounded the room - no plug-in necessary - and away you go! I highly recommend you consider this well crafted bass - and good luck finding one at this price.Oh, and the case is solid and well constructed; fits like a glove.I’m happy to have found this lefty fretless. If anything it will be a unique add to your collection, because the beautifully crafted maple gives a rich look overall, with a rustic pinch. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
